𝗗𝗥. 𝗝𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗟. 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗔𝗬𝗢𝗥
Dr. Montemayor is a seasoned development professional with more than three decades of wholehearted engagement in social development work, including improving the quality of public education, as well as sustainable development, conservation management, and climate action work in the Philippine and Asia.

Dr. Montemayor is the Executive Director of the Foundation for the Philippine Environment (FPE), the country’s first grant-making organization for civil society environment initiatives. He previously served as the International NGO Representative of the FPE Board of Trustees, Corporate Secretary of the FPE Board of Trustees, and Chair of the Knowledge Management Committee. He is a faculty member of the Department of Environment, School of Arts, Sciences, and Education of Miriam College; Environment Department of Philippine Women’s University; and Department of Biology of De La Salle University-Manila.

Dr. Montemayor will speak on “𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝘽𝙎𝘼𝙋 2040 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙉𝙚𝙭𝙪𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝘿𝙂𝙨.”

𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗔𝗛 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗗
Ms. Stoddard holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from Lewis & Clark College. She is the Program Manager for the Program on Resilient Communities at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative. She oversees the Program’s research activities in the Philippines and Nepal which aim to advance learning and empower communities to better prepare for, respond to, recover from, and continually adapt to climate-related hazards.

Before joining HHI, Ms. Stoddard held roles in the nonprofit sector focusing on global health, climate change, and international affairs and diplomacy. She has also worked in humanitarian policy research and consulting.

𝗗𝗥. 𝗠𝗘𝗚𝗔 𝗛𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗧𝗜
Dr. Mega Hidayati completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Aqidah Philosophy study program at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University in 1996. She then completed her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature at Gadjah Mada University.

Dr. Hidayati continued her Masters studies at the Center for Religious and Cross-Cultural Studies (CRCS) at Gadjah Mada University and completed it in 2006. She earned her PhD at the Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies still at Gadjah Mada University.

Dr. Hidayati will speak on “𝙎𝘿𝙂𝙨 𝙖𝙩 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮: 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝘼𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝘿𝙤.”

Student volunteers must be officially enrolled in MSU-IIT for the 1st semester of AY 2024-2025 and should have laptops.

𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗙. 𝗞𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗘. 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥
Prof. Carpenter is known for having two fish species named in his honor – Paracheilinus carpenter Randall and Lubbock 1981, popularly known as “Carpenter’s flasher wrasse”, and Meganthias carpenter Anderson 2006, popularly known as Carpenter’s Yellowtop Jewelfish. A professor of biological sciences at Old Dominion University, his research interest focuses on the systematics and evolution of marine fishes. His work in marine biogeography for the Indian Ocean and West Pacific Ocean has led to work in marine conservation and comparative phylogeography using popular genetics, with a special interest in the Philippines.

Prof. Carpenter is also the coordinator for the IUCN Global and Marine Species Assessment completing the first global review of every marine vertebrate species and of selected marine invertebrates and marine plants to determine conservation status and possible extinction risk for about 20,000 marine species.

Prof. Carpenter will speak on 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙨.”
