Diel vertical migration of zooplankton is used to describe the daily, coordinated migration of microscopic marine creatures (zooplankton) between the ocean's surface and deeper layers. These animals usually rise to the surface at night to feed on phytoplankton and descend to deeper depths during the day to avoid predators, essentially engaging in a game of "hide-and-seek" with their predators based on light levels. This migration is regarded as one of the biggest animal migrations on Earth.

Happy World Wetlands Day! 🦩🌳🌊

Wetlands are among the most productive ecosystems on Earth, providing numerous ecological and socioeconomic services such as coastal protection, climate change mitigation through carbon sequestration, biodiversity, food security, and so much more.

Despite the importance of wetlands, these are also threatened brought by man-made developments and the effects of climate change.

It is high time to protect and restore our remaining wetlands for a sustainable future for all!

Share your wetlands photos in the comment section for us to see ❤️📸
