IBED Marks Research Milestone with Three Papers Published in an International Journal
The Integrated Basic Education Department (IBED) of World Citi Colleges–Guimba Campus has achieved a significant academic milestone, reflecting the department’s growing research culture and strong commitment to academic excellence. This achievement is highlighted by the successful publication of three (3) research papers in the EPRA International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research (IJMR), an internationally recognized peer-reviewed journal.
The first published study, “Relationship Between Students’ Reading Frequency and Reading Comprehension Skills,” authored by Mar F. Martin, Mark Anthony L. Tan, and Aya V. Gregorio, examined how students’ reading habits influence their ability to comprehend texts. The findings emphasized the importance of consistent reading practices in enhancing students’ academic performance and literacy skills.
The second paper, “Effects of Peer Pressure on Allowance Management of Senior High School Students,” written by Reniel Jetrhey P. Florentino, Precious Joywin G. Agustin, Kriss Michael D. Concepcion, and Francesca Marie S. Gumawa, explored the impact of peer influence on students’ financial decision-making. The study provided valuable insights into how social factors affect students’ management of daily allowances, offering relevance to educators, parents, and guidance advocates.
The third published research, “Career Guidance Counseling and Track Selection of Senior High School Students,” authored by Benidick M. Pelitina, Fhillippe John Joshua J. Dimalanta, Maureen C. Martinez, and Ashley Ann C. Maramag, examined the significance of career guidance counseling in assisting senior high school students in making informed decisions regarding their academic tracks. The study highlighted the importance of structured guidance in helping learners align their interests, skills, and future goals.
All three studies were officially released in the January 2026 issue (Volume 12, Issue 1) of the EPRA International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research, marking a notable accomplishment for the IBED research community.
In an interview, student-researcher Aya V. Gregorio, one of the authors of the published study, expressed her gratitude and pride, stating:
“Gusto kong pasalamatan ang aming g**o sa kanilang gabay, suporta, at inspirasyon sa paggawa ng research na ito. Salamat din sa IBED at World Citi Colleges–Guimba sa pagbibigay ng resources at opportunity para maisagawa at maipublish ang pag-aaral na ito. Bilang isang mananaliksik, sobrang saya ko at proud. Dahil sa tulong ng aming g**o, naging makabuluhan at kapaki-pakinabang ang aking research experience.”
This achievement was made possible through the strong support of the school administration. IBED Principal Aila O. Gaspar emphasized that these accomplishments reflect the department’s commitment to cultivating a strong and sustainable research culture among both teachers and learners. Meanwhile, Ronald Ian S. Dullas, OIC-Campus Director, reaffirmed the institution’s continued support for scholarly work that contributes to knowledge advancement and community development.
The success of these three research studies underscores the vital role of student engagement, academic skills, and guidance in improving learning outcomes. Looking ahead, IBED remains committed to advancing its research initiatives and achieving further academic milestones that will continue to strengthen its research culture.
