πΏ Bayanihan Spirit Lives On at Maculos National High School! πΏ
Due to the earthquake that struck last September 30, 2025, the three-classroom building of Maculos National High School was declared unsafe and was closed off with caution tape. It was a disheartening moment for teachers and learners who suddenly lost their classrooms and learning space.
However, the true bayanihan spirit of the community shone brightly. Parents, teachers, and students came together to build temporary learning spaces using bamboo and other available materials β ensuring that learning continues despite the challenges.
With the support and guidance of Maculos NHS Head, Mrs. Jasper P. Matuog, a quick response was made, and coordinated efforts were immediately carried out to address the situation and ensure the safety and continuity of learning for all students.
The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to the ever-dedicated PTA Officers led by PTA President Charito Ignalig, the supportive parents of Grades 7 to 9, teachers, and students who volunteered their time and effort. Despite the heavy rain, everyone worked tirelessly until the temporary classrooms were completed.
Special thanks also go to Mr. Erick and Waynel Bengtsson through Sir Berto and Maβam Karen Gay Belvestre for donating the luna (tarpaulin cover) used for the makeshift classrooms.
The school would also like to express its sincere appreciation to Barangay Electrician Louie Pacion for checking the safety of the schoolβs electrical connections, and to Barangay Captain Hon. Rosemarie F. Bayotas and Barangay Counselor Mely L. Relativo for their generous donation of additional trapal (tarpaulin) materials that greatly improved the temporary learning spaces.
The Maculos NHS community is still in need of stand fans (to ease the heat in the classrooms) and GI pipes (for canopy framing), as the temporary learning area will be in use for some time.
This inspiring act of unity and compassion proves that no disaster can weaken the dedication of the Maculos National High School community. For every learner, we rise together! πͺπ
Padayon, Lahos Maculos! π
