𝙄𝙏 𝙏𝘼𝙆𝙀𝙎 𝙆𝙉𝙊𝙒𝙇𝙀𝘿𝙂𝙀, 𝘾𝙊𝙐𝙍𝘼𝙂𝙀, 𝘼𝙉𝘿 𝘼 𝙃𝙀𝘼𝙍𝙏 𝙏𝙊 𝙃𝙀𝙇𝙋: 𝘼𝙇𝙎 𝘼𝙉𝘿 𝙄𝙋𝙀𝘿 𝘼𝙇𝙎 𝙇𝙀𝘼𝙍𝙉𝙀𝙍𝙎 𝙏𝙍𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙀𝘿 𝙏𝙊 𝙎𝘼𝙑𝙀 𝙇𝙄𝙑𝙀𝙎

The Schools Division of Guihulngan City, through the School Governance and Operations Division, successfully conducted the Basic Life Support–Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BLS–CPR) and First Aid Training for ALS and IPED ALS Learners on October 22–23, 2025, at St. Jude Thadeu Commercial Arcade & Guest House.
This activity aims to provide ALS & IPED ALS learners with foundational knowledge, practical skills, and life-saving values that are critical in responding to emergencies and disasters. It also aims to instill readiness, responsibility, and compassion in learners, which is in line with DepEd's commitment to safety and resilience.

Over the two-day training, a total of 29 ALS and IPED ALS learners from various Community Learning Centers in Guihulngan City enthusiastically engaged in the sessions, demonstrating commitment, teamwork, and showing enthusiasm throughout the sessions. The learners also participated and demonstrated the skills they have learned through hands-on simulation exercises facilitated by trained ALS teachers, division personnel, and medical professionals.
The success of this training reminds us that true readiness to save lives goes beyond skill—it takes knowledge, courage, and a heart to help those in need of help. More than technical competence, it inspires learners to act with empathy and a genuine sense of service to others.

Promoting Disaster Resilience and Preparedness

In line with the Department’s continuous efforts to strengthen disaster readiness in schools, the Schools Division Office of Guihulngan City, through the DRRM Section, conducted a one-day Division Orientation on the DOST–PHIVOLCS Manual for Grade 8–10 Science Teachers focusing on Communicating Volcano, Earthquake, and Tsunami Hazards, along with corresponding disaster prevention and mitigation measures.

The orientation was both timely and relevant, following the recent volcanic activity of Canlaon Volcano and the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Bogo City. The activity gathered Science teachers handling Grades 8 to 10, equipping them with deeper knowledge and practical approaches in teaching geohazards and disaster preparedness.

The session was facilitated by the Division DRRM Focal Person, Ms. Kristine H. Gallardo, together with selected school heads Dr. Christian Edu Villegas and Ms. Decem G. Bongcawil, and Science major teachers Ms. Maricris E. Tomas, Ms. April Mary E. Porlares, Ms. Marichu M. Nueva, and Ms. Lorena S. Rebusquillo.

Participants actively engaged in discussions and hands-on experiments introduced by the facilitators, which enriched their understanding of how natural hazards occur and how these can be effectively communicated in the classroom.

The orientation also highlighted the vital role of Science teachers as frontliners in promoting safety and awareness, emphasizing that they, too, play a crucial part in securing the welfare of their colleagues and learners during disasters.

As of 8:00 PM today, 20 September 2025, Typhoon "NANDO" {international name "RAGASA"} is still being monitored INSIDE the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Meanwhile, a Typhoon has entered the PAGASA domain (still outside PAR) and has an international name {NEOGURI}.
Also, the Low Pressure Area 09d (formerly "MIRASOL") is still being monitored OUTSIDE the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and is "UNLIKELY" to redevelop into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.
All are advised to monitor updates from DOST-PAGASA.
