From managing strict deadlines and enduring late nights during press conference seasons to now walking the halls of UPB, the entire community congratulates our former Editor-in-Chief, 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝗹 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘇𝗼𝗻, for passing the 𝗨𝗣𝗖𝗔𝗧 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

Lance served as the leader of The Chain during the school year 2025–2026, following two years of dedicated service to the publication during his senior years at GNHS.

With this achievement, he continues the legacy of SY 2023–2024 EIC Amanda Hale Bulante, who became an iska two years ago and is currently enrolled in the same degree program Lance will pursue.

Both former Opinion Writers and chiefs, Lance and Amanda guided their junior staff with intellect and dedication throughout their high school journeys. As former publication chiefs turned mga iskolar ng bayan, they serve as a profound inspiration to the Archer community.

𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 || 𝐆𝐍𝐇𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐘 𝐃𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐎𝐏𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒’ 𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐃𝐀 𝐄𝐒𝐊𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐀

𝗚𝗢𝗡𝗭𝗔𝗚𝗔, 𝗖𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻—Gonzaga National High School (GNHS) will focus on boosting student literacy through the "Brigada Pagbasa" program during the annual Brigada Eskwela on June 1–5.

This reading initiative aims to address the previous low reading and comprehension performance of the students where Grade 7 and Grade 8 language teachers will spearhead the project and personally provide the reading materials for incoming Grade 7 learners.

To maximize student involvement and promote peer teaching, the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) will serve as volunteers to help lighten the teachers' workload.

𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐘 𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐃𝐀

Meanwhile, Grade 9 and Grade 10 teachers and students will hold an early Brigada shift later this month to avoid a schedule conflict with an “important” seminar on June 1–4 to be attended by teachers from the said grade levels.

However, the GNHS Head Teacher Glenys Santiago said “the campus is already 85% ready for the new school year since the facilities were left in excellent condition last school year,”.

Remaining volunteer efforts will focus on maintaining a safe learning environment, supporting reading development, and strictly enforcing the no-solicitation policy.

𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐖𝐀𝐘

Additionally, a major structural project this year is a new school pathway funded entirely by the alumni association.

Construction materials will arrive in the coming days, and the Philippine Marines will assist volunteers to finish the pathway in just one day.

The week-long event will open with a kick-off program starting early at 6:00 AM on June 1, and to save on high fuel costs, participants will conduct a walking caravan instead of holding the traditional motorcade.

𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇 𝐎𝐅 𝐒𝐏𝐉 𝐄𝐗𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐒

Gonzaga National High School (GNHS) held its qualifying examination for the Special Program on Journalism (SPJ) earlier today, May 22, with 19 aspirants who took both the written and practical exams in their chosen categories.

The said examination was supervised by Michael Verdyck Calija, the school paper adviser of GNHS The Chain and the coordinator of SPJ.

While the qualifying exam has concluded, incoming grade seven students who are interested are encouraged to join, as GNHS will open its doors for registration until the end of the enrollment period.

Additionally, students qualified for the said program will be announced by early June through a Facebook post on the official page of the school publication.

GONZAGA, Cagayan— The municipality of Gonzaga launched Project Advancing New Generation Of Athletes, Coaches And Technical Officials Through Training (ANGAT) at Gonzaga National High School (GNHS) on Tuesday, convening local coaches and sports officials for a three-day intensive training seminar aimed at improving the town's performance in upcoming athletic meets.

The specialized training, scheduled to run from May 12 to 14, was organized by Jomar Respicio of Ipil National High School and a co-organizer from the elementary department and is fully subsidized by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Gonzaga with invited trainors from different schools in the Division of Cagayan who are tournament managers in their respective events.

This comes in response to Gonzaga's recent low rankings in previous sports competitions, which officials attribute to a lack of technical mastery in individual sports categories.

To bridge this gap, the program has opened slots for educators who are willing to mentor athletes in newly adopted disciplines including wushu, archery, and boxing.

Meanwhile, Jheane and her team secured an impressive 4th place finish in the Best Technical Application segment under the Television Broadcasting – Filipino category.

As the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐂) starts today, we extend our biggest good luck to Gonzaga National High School's 𝙋𝙖𝙪𝙡 𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙖 and 𝙅𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙚 𝙅𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙂𝙖𝙥𝙪𝙯, who are competing in the Television Broadcasting English and Filipino categories, respectively, coached by 𝙈𝙧. Both have fought a good fight from the DSPC and RSPC to now the biggest journalism stage for students and SPAs—the NSPC with 17 participating regions held at Ormoc City, Leyte, on April 13-17.

Alongside this, we also give our warmest prayers to the 𝘼𝙡𝙖𝙗 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙥𝙚 as they prepare for the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 (𝐍𝐅𝐎𝐓) to be held at Roxas City, Capiz, on April 18-22. We pray for a 3-peat championship and safe travels ahead!
