𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗵: 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗘𝗗 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 & 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗣𝗠𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿

Yda Celine Nuyles was part of the very first batch of the Brain Train Virtual Classroom (BTVC). Although she initially worried that the online setup might make it difficult for her to learn effectively, the experience turned out to be engaging, enjoyable, and ultimately rewarding.

The PSHS–Bicol Region Campus students brought a special energy to their virtual classes. they attended the online sessions together in one room in their dormitory, participated actively, and made the review more enjoyable—not only for themselves, but also for their teachers and classmates.

Yda balanced weekly review sessions with the demanding workload of a Pisay student. When her simulation results fell short of what she had hoped for, she did not allow disappointment to discourage her. She returned to her Brain Train manual, used the results to identify what she needed to improve, and turned them into motivation to work harder.

Her discipline and perseverance eventually led to two remarkable results: Yda was named one of only 100 UP INTARMED candidates nationwide and also passed the UST LEAPMed admissions process.

Welcome to our newly inducted Junior and English Core Olympians! They were carefully chosen after taking the school's English Olympiad Qualifying Exam. They will be representing Philippine Science High School - Bicol Region Campus in Camarines Sur in various English-related competitions.

𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗻

PSHS-Bicol welcomes its aspiring and returning Olympians through the 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗦𝗛𝗦-𝗕𝗥𝗖 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 on August 12, 2026, at the PSHS-BRC AVR. The activity brings together scholars who will carry the Pisay-Bicol banner in various academic competitions and Olympiads.

More than preparing for contests, the program strengthens a shared commitment to discipline, excellence, teamwork, and responsible representation. As these scholars take on new challenges, may they continue to learn beyond the classroom, strive for their personal best, and bring honor to the school and the nation.

𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘇 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗲𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀

𝗞𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗩. 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘇 of Philippine Science High School–Bicol Region Campus qualified for the 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗲𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 after winning a silver medal in the competition’s Semi-Final Round on July 12 at Balay Kalinaw, UP Balay Internasyunal, University of the Philippines Diliman.

The semi-final round was conducted from 10 a.m. to noon and gathered qualifiers from the Preliminary Round. Alcaraz previously earned a gold medal in the preliminary stage, securing his place in the next level of the lexical skills competition.

With his silver-medal finish, Alcaraz will represent PSHS-BRC in the World Finals at the Ipoh Convention Centre in Ipoh, Malaysia, from August 21 to 24, 2026.

He is coached by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝘆𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗢. 𝗝𝗼𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻 of the English Unit.

𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱, 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀

𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗖. 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼, an incoming Grade 9 scholar of Philippine Science High School–Bicol Region Campus, won 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲 in the Hippo 3 category of the Hippo English Without Borders - the Contest 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮-𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 held in Phuket, Thailand, on July 2, 2026.

With this victory, Leanne has earned a spot in the 𝗛𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗼 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗼, 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆. This marks her second consecutive World Finals appearance after clinching Third Prize in Hippo 2 last year.

Also representing PSHS-BRC was 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗧. 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗲, an incoming Grade 12 scholar under the Physics track, who competed in the Hippo 4 category. She ranked 4th overall out of 53 participants.

Prior to the Continental Round, both Leanne and Mary Esther won gold medals in the Preliminary Round and National Finals. They were coached by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗕. 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗼 of the English Unit.

According to the Hippo website, participating countries in the Continental Round include Bangladesh, Brunei, China, HKSAR (Hong Kong), India, Indonesia, Laos, MSAR (Macau), Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Aside from Language Use and Reading, the Continental Qualifiers will test the contestants' vocabulary skills through a set crossword puzzles. 𝗣𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆-𝗕𝗥𝗖 𝗯𝗮𝗴𝘀 𝟭𝟬 𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗼 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀

Philippine Science High School–Bicol Region Campus once again proved its strength in English language competitions after its scholars earned 𝟭𝟬 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 in the recently concluded 𝗛𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 held on May 31, 2026, at the University of the Philippines Diliman.
The official results, released on June 12, 2026, confirmed another strong finish for Pisay-BRC, with several scholars qualifying for the next stages of the international competition.

Three Pisay-BRC scholars qualified for the 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮-𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 to be held in Phuket, Thailand. Leading the campus delegation are 𝗖𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮, who placed Overall Rank 2 in the Hippo 4 Category;𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼, who placed Overall Rank 3 in the Hippo 3 Category; and 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗲, who also placed Overall Rank 3 in the Hippo 4 Category.

Meanwhile, seven scholars advanced to the𝗛𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗼 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆-𝗢𝗳𝗳 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 in Brighton, United Kingdom. They are 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗺, Overall Rank 4 in the Hippo 4 Category; 𝗝𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗔𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗴𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮, Overall Rank 5 in the Hippo 3 Category; 𝗬𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗲𝗿, Overall Rank 5 in the Hippo 4 Category; 𝗖𝗲𝘇𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼, Overall Rank 6 in the Hippo 3 Category; 𝗝𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗞𝘆𝗹𝗮 𝗔𝗹𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗻, Overall Rank 7 in the Hippo 3 Category;𝗜𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹, Overall Rank 13 in the Hippo 3 Category; and 𝗡𝗲𝗶𝗹 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀, Overall Rank 15 in the Hippo 3 Category.

The team was mentored by Sir 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗼 of the English Unit. The scholars answered more than 300 grammar-related questions to prepare for the contest.

The qualifiers will represent not only Pisay-BRC but also the Philippines as they move on to the next rounds of the competition. Their achievement brings pride to the PSHS-BRC community and serves as an inspiration to young language learners who continue to excel beyond the classroom.
