The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) students of Irineo L. Santiago National High School of Metro Dadiangas successfully presented their research studies at the Metrian Research Colloquium 2026, held under the theme
“𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐈𝐧𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.”

The Federated Metrian STEM Students Organization (FeMSSO), together with the STEM student community, extends its heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed resource speaker, Dr. Sheryl Rose Joy R. Leysa-Yama for sharing her insightful journey as a research adviser.

True to this year’s theme, the colloquium became a meaningful space where inquiry was transformed into impact that sharpened the minds of young researchers, inspiring change through shared insights, and sparking innovative ideas for the future.

Dr. Leysa-Yama concluded the forum with a powerful reminder “𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒚 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒏, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒚 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕.”

This reminds us that research is not just about seeing what others see, but thinking in a unique way to create new and meaningful ideas.

In the afternoon, with steadiness and creativity, the STEM students proudly presented their very own tarpaulin during the gallery walk at Metrian Gymnasium, which truly impressed and captivated the non-STEM Metrians. Their showcase highlighted the ability of young researchers to transform questions into meaningful contributions.

Congratulations to all the students who stood out with their outstanding research presentations, proving that young minds can indeed shape ideas into impact.

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞: 𝐖𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭!

After weeks of planning, research, and late-night revisions, STEM A and STEM B sections stepped up to the challenge with confidence and poise, STEM A on March 3, 2026, and STEM B on March 5, 2026. What began as proposals turned into journeys of perseverance, teamwork, and courage, culminating in final defenses that not only showcased their research but also fully functional prototypes, reflecting their creativity and problem-solving skills.

Through challenging questions and unexpected twists, both sections stood proud and self-assured, transforming nerves into confidence and ideas into action. Their heartfelt gratitude goes out to the panelists whose guidance and insights made this milestone even more meaningful.

From dreaming up concepts to defending working prototypes with determination—this was more than an academic task; it was proof that hard work, collaboration, and resilience truly pay off.

Sleepless nights of studying, endless problem sets, experiments that didn’t always succeed, and moments of doubt that pushed their limits — these are the realities every STEM student knows all too well. Yet amid the struggles, they continue to 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞, strengthened by 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, fueled by 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, and driven by the 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞.

The 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 stands as a 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞 to 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, and the 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞.
