THINGS TO REMEMBER DURING THE OPENING MEETING

Among the things discussed, the speaker discussed the opening meeting as a crucial step in the conduct if an audit.

According to Rivera, the opening meeting introduces the auditors, and the audit plan and is held with the presence of auditees.

Either held formally or informally, the internal audit requires an attendance sheet during the opening meeting.

A checklist is also needed during the internal audit conduct. It is during the opening meeting that the terms conformity and non- conformity, and other audit results are explained.

ISO 21001:2025 AWARENESS AND INTERNAL AUDIT TRAINING ENTERS ITS THIRD DAY

After the grueling task of preparing an audit program, audit plan, and checklist, the RMMC Internal Auditors braced themselves as Mr. Rivera, the resource person, scrutinized their groups' outputs.

Day 3 focused on critiquing the groups' work through an interactive workshop, specifically on creating an audit checklist as a useful tool in the auditing process.

Prior to the presentations, the speaker started the session by gathering the groups' takeaways, insights, and responses from the past two days.

Rivera stressed that customer satisfaction must be of utmost concern and that any complaints should lead to improvements in the audit system. Moreover, he emphasized that building a culture of quality must be one of the organization's thrusts, making it a shared responsibility among all members of the institution.

Rivera also emphasized the importance of aligning the audit plan and the checklist as essential tools for conducting an effective audit.

RMMC CONTINUES ISO 21001:2025 AWARENESS AND INTERNAL AUDIT TRAINING

On the second day of the ISO 21001:2025 Awareness and Internal Auditor Training, Gilmore Rivera gave an overview of the activities scheduled for the day.

Rivera emphasized the discussion of best practices. He explained that the institution must understand the requirements of the standard and strive to comply with, or even exceed, the minimum requirements. These objectives will be addressed through a series of workshops.

Interestingly, the resource speaker also introduced another standard, ISO 19011:2026; which provides guidelines for auditing management systems and is aligned with the implementation of ISO 21001:2025.

The latest version also requires auditors to adapt to the use of technology. In this regard, educational institutions have an advantage because members of the academic community are already familiar with various applications and digital platforms used in education.

Managing an audit program is likewise given significant emphasis in this updated ISO standard.

Overall, Day 2 focused on discussions and workshops centered on the 11 principles of ISO 19011:2026, further equipping the participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively conduct internal audits.

RMMC KICKS OFF ISO 21001:2025 EOMS TRAINING FOR INTERNAL AUDITORS

RMMC, General Santos City, once again opened its doors to embrace yet another certification bid, this time for ISO 21001:2025 Educational Organizations Management System (EOMS).

Slated to take place over three days, from August 12 to 14, 2026, at Sun City Suites along National Highway, General Santos City, the Awareness and Internal Audit Training aims to prepare the institution for more rigorous and timely adherence to the new EOMS standards.

On its first day, SOCOTEC Certification Philippines Inc. Operations Director Gilmore Rivera conducted the training for more than 90 selected RMMC Internal Auditors.

The training began with a review of the previous version, ISO 21001:2018, and its differences from the new ISO 21001:2025 (EOMS) version. Afterwards, a series of workshops was conducted, where participants worked in groups to complete assigned tasks. The groups then presented their outputs, which were followed by critiques and feedback from the resource person.
