Ipinababatid ng Mindanao State University – General Santos na ang usapin tungkol sa mga binitiwang pagbabanta online ng isang mag-aaral laban sa kapwa mag-aaral ay agarang naaksyunan at naresolba sa pamamagitan ng dayalogo sa utos ng Chancellor at sa pamamagitan ng Chief of Staff at ng Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Services (OVCSAS), katuwang ang Office of Student Development Services (OSDS) at Office of Guidance and Counseling (OGC).

Mahalaga sa Pamantasan ang kaligtasan, kapakanan, dignidad, at karapatan ng bawat kasapi ng ating komunidad. Kaya bilang isang Peace University, naninindigan ang MSU–General Santos sa pagtataguyod ng kultura ng kapayapaan, paggalang, pagkakaunawaan. Kasabay nito, itinataguyod natin ang isang ligtas, inklusibo, at mapagkalingang pamayanang pang-akademiko kung saan ang bawat isa, anumang katayuan, pinagmulan, pananaw, o pagkakaiba ay nararapat na igalang, pakinggan, at tratuhing may dignidad.

Nais naming ipaalala sa ating mga mag-aaral na hindi ninyo kailangang harapin nang mag-isa ang anumang suliranin, pangamba, o pagsubok. May mga tanggapan at mga taong handang makinig, umunawa, at tumulong. Huwag mag-atubiling lumapit sa OVCSAS at sa mga tanggapan nito, sa ating faculty at staff, o sa iba pang kinauukulang opisina para sa anumang problema, pangamba, o pangangailangan.

Hinihikayat din namin ang lahat na maging mapagmatyag, responsable, at maingat sa paggamit at pagbabahagi ng impormasyon, lalo na sa social media. Sa mga ganitong pagkakataon, mahalagang pairalin ang paggalang, malasakit, at wastong pag-aksyon upang maiwasan ang paglala ng pangamba at mapanatili ang tiwala at pagkakaisa sa ating komunidad.

Naniniwala kami na ang pagpapanatili ng kapayapaan ay pananagutan ng bawat isa—mga mag-aaral, magulang, alumni, at Administrasyon.

Ang sampung (10) mapipiling estudyante, limang (5) G**o, at limang (5) Non-teaching personnel ay magiging parte ng Project IVo (IVolunteer) na naglalayong bubuo ng mga volunteers sa Mindanao State University–General Santos upang tumugon sa mga pangangailangan ng komunidad, mapalakas ang ambag ng pamantasan sa volunteerism, at community involvements sa pamamagitan ng mga dadating na programa at proyekto ng OVCSAS-CIVP.

The MSU-GenSan OVCSAS - Job Placement Office invites all graduates, alumni, and job seekers who are currently looking for employment opportunities to participate in the MSU GenSan Job Fair 2026 on August 28, 2026, at the MSU Gymnasium, Fatima, General Santos City.

The Job Fair will provide participants with the opportunity to meet employers from various industries, explore available career opportunities, submit applications, and potentially undergo interviews and on-the-spot hiring. Participants may also avail themselves of advisory and assistance services from invited government agencies, providing guidance on essential government IDs, benefits, registration, and other services relevant to their transition into employment.

At the same time, the Job Placement Office invites companies and organizations with current job vacancies to participate in the Job Fair. Participating employers may set up their recruitment booths and directly connect with qualified applicants and potential employees.

ADEPT: Fostering Excellence

𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 | 𝗔 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝘽𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞:
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝘀𝗸𝗼 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

Once again, the MSU spirit was brought to greater heights and visibility.

MSU-GenSan once again has proven that an Iskolar will always be an agent of change, wherever the battlefield may be. Time and again, MSUans have still proven that excellence is not confined within the four corners of the classroom, yet it extends to the community, the nation, and beyond. This time, it is Al-Jabar who carried that purpose onward, representing not just himself but the entire values the university has instilled in every Isko and Iska.

Al-Jabar Oriol, a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies Major in Shar'iah student of the university, has stood out as the sole participant from MSU-Gensan in the BAGANI: Rising Leaders Development Program. Out of many applicants nationwide, Al-Jabar emerged as one of the select few chosen to represent the school in this prestigious undertaking. He was selected through an intensive selection process, involving a tedious interview session with six panelists.

Bagani, the Manobo term for "hero" or "warrior”, is a one-month intensive leadership fellowship and flagship nationwide youth initiative of the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), held in Tagaytay and Baguio. For the whole month of July, youth leaders and change-makers aged 18 to 30 from across the country gathered together to be the spark of change for good governance and be ambassadors of the nation. The program brought together fellows from government agencies, local government units, academic institutions, and youth organizations, forging a diverse yet united community bound by a common mission: to serve. It is, as DAP describes it, more than just a leadership program—it is an investment in the future of Philippine governance and change.

Designed to hone the full leadership potential of the country's youth, delegates in this rigorous fellowship are vigorously introduced to advanced governance training, mentorship, immersive simulations, and collaborative learning sessions led by professors and public officials from across the country. Fellows undergo modules on local governance, public policy, and innovation in governance, guided by mentors from institutions such as Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University, as well as sitting and former government officials. Beyond the lectures and workshops, the program pushes delegates out of their comfort zones, challenging them to think critically, lead collaboratively, and act decisively in the face of real-world governance issues.

From national discussions to local implementations, the program also entailed a Catalyst Project, which targets community-level challenges identified by each fellow, with the goal of translating leadership training into tangible public impact. It is, in fact, the heart of the fellowship that leadership is not merely spoken of, but carried out.

As Al-Jabar fought for his place in the program, his sense of duty ran deeper than academic pride. Coming from BARMM, Al-Jabar carried a mission to reframe how people see Mindanao.
“Too often, conversations about Mindanao only focus on conflict or challenges," he says. “Through BAGANI, I wanted others to see another side of our home—a Mindanao filled with resilient communities, passionate young leaders, peacebuilders, and people who continue choosing hope despite difficult circumstances."

Perhaps, for Al-Jabar, the most transformative part of BAGANI wasn't the coursework at all, but the people. Spending a month alongside young leaders from Batanes to Sulu meant confronting vast differences in culture, profession, and discovering, underneath it all, a shared heritage.

“We all wanted better opportunities for young people. We all wanted more responsive leadership. We all wanted safer, stronger, and more inclusive communities," Al-Jabar shared

Thus, that philosophy took concrete shape in the Catalyst Project he developed with the Kalasag Collective: the C.A.R.E.+ Program, or the Community Access to Redress and Empowerment Program, a safe and confidential referral system for LGBTQIA+ individuals and People Living with HIV in BARMM. The project proposes training Youth Navigators to connect vulnerable individuals to healthcare and legal services while protecting their privacy, a model he hoped to eventually bring home to MSU General Santos, whether through the Supreme Student Council or future community initiatives.

It was personal, not theoretical. "While BARMM consistently reports some of the lowest HIV case numbers in the country, we learned that low numbers don't always mean fewer cases," he explained.

Al-Jabar’s journey through BAGANI is indeed a reminder to every young leader: representation is not a title you're given, but a responsibility you choose to carry, be it for your community, your roots, and the people. In choosing to show up, to listen first, and to lead with empathy rather than ego, Al-Jabar leaves behind more than an initiative, but a challenge to every Mindanaoan youth to trust their story, take up their deserved space, and become the next Bagani their community needs.

For student leaders who are still hesitant to take the leap, Al-Jabar’s message is simple: "Don't reject yourself before others even get the chance to know your story."

“We rise from the rubble”—a message of resilience that set the tone as Mindanao State University–General Santos, through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Services, opened Academic Year 2026–2027 with its traditional Salubong festivities. Shaking off the apprehension from recent seismic activities, Vice Chancellor Norman Ralph Isla on behalf of Chancellor Atty. Shidik T. Abantas greeted the students with an inspiring first-day gathering grounded in community, excellence, and purpose on August 10, 2026, at the University Gymnasium.

In his address, Vice Chancellor Isla rooted his greeting in the University’s tradition of fostering excellence as he pledged the full support of the entire OVCSAS cluster.

“MSU GenSan will share to you knowledge and skills and prepare you for your future professions. Your colleges welcome you this morning. Kami naman ngayon sa OVCSAS ang mag-aalaga sa inyo. We will take care of you, from your welfare to your mental health, while also honing your skills and talents,” he emphasized.

Issuing a clear call to value taxpayers’ money, VC Isla reminded the students that rising from the rubble also means standing firm in their duty as scholars. He pointed out that out of over 16,000 applicants, only 2,800 earned the covetous admission.

"Take pride as you are a diamond in a rough. Fostering excellence and serve the nation,” he urged, reminding the students that their education is sustained by the nation, their parents, and Filipino taxpayers—a privilege that comes with the responsibility to study hard and return that investment through dedicated public service.

He closed his message with a warm greeting: “Maayong pag-abot sa MSU-GenSan!"

Ushering in a new chapter of excellence, MSU-GenSan officially welcomed MSUans with Salubong: Grand Opening Salvo 2026.

“They say all good things must come to an end, but at MSU-GenSan, every ending is just a setup for a bigger comeback.”

College banners waved across the University Gymnasium as chants, live music, and pure energy took over the grounds on August 10, 2026. Marking the start of Academic Year 2026–2027, Mindanao State University–General Santos, through the domain of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Services, ushered students into Salubong: Grand Opening Salvo 2026, bringing the entire campus community together in a spirited celebration anchored in community, pride, and an unyielding commitment to excellence.

For the freshies and transferees stepping onto campus grounds, Salubong was their first taste of what it actually means to be an MSUan. Beyond the festivities, they were welcomed into the larger MSU community, with University officials, College Deans, OVCSAS cluster offices, and student leaders becoming part of the people they will encounter throughout their academic journey. For returning MSUans, it was an instant jump-start back into the familiar grind and chaotic energy of university life.

University leadership turned out in full force to open the celebration, with Chancellor Atty. Shidik T. Abantas, alongside Vice Chancellors: VCSAS Dr. Norman Ralph Isla, VCPD Dr. Randy Asturias, VCAA Dr. Mishell Lawas, and VCAF Prof. Sheila Loable, joining other University officials, College Deans, and the OVCSAS cluster on the floor to officially usher in AY 2026–2027.

Capping off the declaration, the celebration carried on with a community dance featuring performances by the Balinsasayaw Dance Collective, MSU Chorale, and Kabpapagariya Ensemble. With music and movement filling the gymnasium, the performances brought administrators, faculty, and students together, demonstrating that at MSU-GenSan, cultural identity and the drive for excellence move as one shared beat.

With Salubong setting the tone for the new academic year, MSU-GenSan colleges and OVCSAS welcome every MSUan to another year of continuing pursuit of excellence.
