Sports transcend competition. They bring people together, cultivate discipline and camaraderie, and provide a platform where determination, talent, and sportsmanship come to the fore.

The second day of the Eastern Samar State University Intramurals 2026 carried these values into another round of spirited competition, as student-athletes from different units continued to vie for distinction across various sporting events. From elimination rounds to championship matches, each contest tested the athletes’ skill, composure, and determination.

Victories were secured and champions were crowned, bringing two days of intense competition to a close. Yet beyond the results and rankings, the Intramurals stood as a celebration of athletic excellence, unity, and representation.

More than the victories and accolades, the event leaves behind a shared spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie—values that extend beyond the playing grounds.

The Pavilion came alive as dancers from across departments took center stage, turning every beat into a display of precision, passion, and performance.

From the Latin and Standard categories to the Three Kind Competition, competitors brought their finest moves to the floor and left their mark on the dance competition.

Among the standout performers was John Charles Caraga of the Biology Department, who, alongside his partner Julie Ann Cadalin, secured 2nd Place in the Latin Competition, representing Unit II Yellow Tigers with poise, precision, and remarkable stage presence. 🥈

The Pavilion bore witness to a striking interplay of movement and mastery, as dancers turned every beat into an expression of precision and passion.

𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗔𝗥 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗝𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗕𝗜𝗢 𝗥𝗘𝗜𝗚𝗡 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗠𝗥. & 𝗠𝗦. 𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗨 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗦

Eastern Samar State University — Edward Bajado Altar and Kurtney Jaralbio were crowned as Mr. and Ms. ESSU 2026 Intramurals, respectively, during yesterday’s annual celebration of athleticism, confidence, individuality, and school spirit.

Bajado and Jaralbio secured the major pageant titles, highlighting their confidence, presence, and individuality alongside the sporting competitions.

Meanwhile, Unit II representatives Mr. Paul Bernard Balein and Ms. Lovelea Jade Jongco stepped into the spotlight, proudly carrying our unit’s name with confidence and distinction.

The candidates were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges. The Ms. ESSU category was judged by Dr. Ocfemia and Cervantes, while the Mr. ESSU category was assessed by Dr. Model Grace Buna, Dr. Francis Vien, and Dr. Ma. Michelle Simplicia Globio.

The pageant formed part of the ESSU 2026 Intramurals, which brought students together in a celebration of talent, sportsmanship, and school pride.

ESS-U READY? 🔥🏆

Yesterday, the ESSU 2026 Intramurals officially kicked off at the Main Campus, welcoming students and athletes into a celebration of competition, camaraderie, and school spirit. The opening ceremony brought the ESSU community together as competing teams prepared to showcase their skills, determination, and sportsmanship.

A highlight of the ceremony was the lighting of the Intramurals torch by ESSU’s national SQUAA qualifiers, symbolizing the passion and unity that fuel every athlete. With the flame burning bright, ESSU officially set the stage for days of thrilling competition, where every game became an opportunity to compete, represent, and make the university proud.

Sportsmanship, unity, and school pride took center stage as Eastern Samar State University officially kicked off Intramurals 2026 through its Opening Ceremony yesterday, August 10, 2026.

This year’s Mr. and Ms. ESSU candidates also took the stage to represent their respective units, showcasing confidence, character, and school spirit.

Marking the beginning of the two-day celebration, the opening ceremony brought students from across the university’s units together for athletic competition, talent, and camaraderie.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | Resounding cheers and enthusiastic screams filled Teatro Ibabawnon as performers from different units and departments took the stage to showcase their musical talents in the Kundiman Singing, Violin, and Live Band Competitions, held alongside the Intramurals 2026.

The Live Band Competition featured participants from Unit II Yellow Tigers, Unit IV Fighting Maroons (Mighty Band and Aeros), Unit III Green Archers, and Unit I Blue Eagles (Ingineos).

Meanwhile, the Kundiman Singing Competition featured participants from Unit III Green Archers and Unit IV Fighting Maroons.

As the competitions concluded, the following emerged as champions:

Kundiman Singing Competition:
Alexander Buen — 91% rating

Violin Competition:
Reynaldo Magpili — 90.67% rating

Live Band Competition:
Different Shadows — Unit III Green Archers

A momentous celebration of ASEAN Day at Eastern Samar State University, bringing the university community together in recognition of the diverse cultures, traditions, and identities that unite the ASEAN community.

The celebration was graced by the presence of Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe, Regional Director of CHED Region VIII, and Hon. Desiderio R. Apag III, Chairperson of the ESSU Board of Regents and CHED Commissioner, warmly welcomed by ESSU President Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan, Jr., alongside the university’s Vice Presidents, Campus Administrators, Deans, faculty members, non-teaching personnel, and students.

Their presence highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering regional cooperation, cultural appreciation, and the values of unity and understanding that embody the ASEAN spirit.

From the lessons that sparked our curiosity to the encouragement that pushed us beyond what we thought we could do, you have become more than just an instructor to us. You have been someone who inspires us to keep learning, ask better questions, and see Biology beyond the pages of our textbooks.
