The suspension follows forecasts that the Enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will continue to bring rains over the Municipality of Mexico.

The Municipal Government of Mexico, under the leadership of Mayor Ruding Santos Gonzales, adopts Memorandum Circular No. 128 issued by the Office of the President.

The directive requires government offices and schools in Pampanga and other affected areas to implement Alternative Work Arrangements and Alternative Learning Modalities on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

The following arrangements will take effect:

- Municipal Government offices will implement a work-from-home setup.
- Public and private schools at all levels will implement online classes or other applicable learning modalities.
- Offices responsible for basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital government functions will remain operational.

Mayor Ruding Gonzales urges every Mexicano to follow official safety protocols, avoid flooded areas, and monitor announcements from the Municipal Government of Mexico and concerned government agencies.

Upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), and in view of the Heavy Rainfall Warnings issued by PAGASA relative to the continuous heavy rainfall associated with the Southwest Monsoon, government offices in the National Capital Region and the provinces of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, and Occidental Mindoro are directed to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements on 18 August 2026.

Agencies delivering basic and health services, disaster preparedness/response, and other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services. Alternative learning modes shall be implemented for classes at all levels in public and private schools in the aforementioned areas.

The suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector shall be left to the discretion of management.

Sa pamamagitan ng kanyang ipinagkaloob na financial support, matagumpay nating maisasakatuparan ang Cementing of School Pathway, isang proyektong magbibigay ng mas ligtas, maayos, at komportableng daanan para sa lahat ng pumapasok sa ating paaralan.

Ang proyektong ito ay makatutulong upang maiwasan ang putikan at madulas na daanan tuwing tag-ulan, mabawasan ang alikabok kapag tag-init, at higit sa lahat ay mapangalagaan ang kaligtasan ng ating mga mag-aaral, g**o, mga magulang, at iba pang bumibisita sa paaralan.
