🌧️ Rain or Shine, the Passion for Chinese Continues! 🇨🇳🇵🇭

On May 16, the Confucius Institute at the University of the Philippines (CIUP) successfully held the first half of the 2026 Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) and Speaking Test (HSKK). We were thrilled to welcome over 100 candidates for both the written (HSK 1-6) and speaking exams! 📝🎤

This session was special for its incredible diversity. Our exam hall brought together people from all walks of life:
👥 From UPIS high school students to financial elites from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
🌏 From local Filipino learners to international candidates from France, Brazil, Japan, Vietnam, and Myanmar.
📍 From Metro Manila to those who traveled over 460km all the way from Cagayan province!

Even a sudden thunderstorm couldn't dampen the enthusiasm! ⛈️ Candidates arrived early and prepared with full energy. The atmosphere turned into joyful celebration after the test, with students taking photos with their teachers to mark this milestone. 📸✨

At CIUP, we are committed to connecting more people through language and culture. A huge congratulations to all the test-takers, and thank you for your unwavering support! 🚀

🎉 Historic Win at the 25th "Chinese Bridge" Philippines Regional Final! 🇵🇭🇨🇳

We are thrilled to announce that on May 21, 2026, Confucius Institute at the University of the Philippines (CIUP) achieved a historic breakthrough! Our contestants, Audrey E. Marcos (Ma Huan) and Mary Grace Ganadillo (Tan Xiang), delivered outstanding performances, winning First Prize and the Excellence Award respectively. This marks the first time UPCI has ever secured the First Prize since its establishment! 🏆✨

The competition featured knowledge quizzes, themed speeches, talent showcases, and open voting.
🎤 Audrey captivated the audience with her speech "That Encounter Made the World No Longer Distant" and a graceful song-and-dance performance of "Entering the Picturesque Jiangnan."
💃 Mary Grace shared her journey in "The World Begins with 'Ni Hao'" and lit up the stage with an energetic performance of "Ai Ni (Love You)."

This remarkable achievement is the result of nearly two months of hard work and dedication. A huge congratulations to our students and their mentor, Teacher Ding Feng, for their tireless efforts! 👏

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to H.E. Ambassador Jing Quan for his inspiring presence and support. Special thanks to Dean Zhi Xiaojing for her guidance, and to Teachers Wu Xingyu and Wang Xiaojiao, along with the entire UPCI team, for their unwavering support behind the scenes. ❤️
