The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), through its Value Chain Innovation for Sustainable Transformation in Agrarian Reform Communities (VISTA) Project, conducted an educational visit to the Regional Coffee Innovation Center (RCIC) of Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), giving participants firsthand exposure to the Center's research, extension, and innovation initiatives in the Philippine coffee industry.
The activity was conducted on July 28, 2026 at two sites: the Coffee Research Site (in collaboration with DSSC-RCIC and Dizon Farms) located in Sitio Bacoco, Brgy. Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur and the RCIC and Museum within the Main Campus of DSSC. The visit was attended by the team from the VISTA Project, along with officials and personnel from various provincial and regional offices of the Department of Agrarian Reform. The RCIC team facilitated the discussions and technical demonstrations, engaging participants in coffee production and quality evaluation.

The Regional Coffee Innovation Center (RCIC) of Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) convened a partnership meeting with Bansalan Cooperative to strengthen and enhance the implementation of the existing Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the two institutions. The meeting focused on reinforcing collaborative initiatives that support the sustainable development of cooperatives across the Davao del Sur province, with particular emphasis on empowering coffee farmers while extending assistance to other agricultural sectors served by the cooperative.
The coordination meeting was held on July 27, 2026, at the Board Room of the Bansalan Cooperative Building, Bansalan, Davao del Sur. Representing DSSC were Dr. Regie D. Patagoc (RCIC Director); Ms. Pia Marie Cabarrubias-Lawoglawog, MPA (PDO II); and Mr. Alvin P. Crodua, RAgr (AO II). Meanwhile, Bansalan Cooperative was represented by Ms. Anabel N. Sayson, MBA (CEO); Ms. Elsie Bacornay-Alam (Business Development Services Officer); Mr. Norlix Lucas (Agri-Technician); and Ms. Cyna Wella Culpa (Youth Program Coordinator).

The Regional Coffee Innovation Center (RCIC) of Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) conducted a series of field data gathering activities as part of its research project entitled "Integrated Nutrient Management for Productivity, Quality, and Economic Performance of Arabica Coffee under the Mt. Apo Conditions." The activities were conducted on July 8 and July 24, 2026, at the coffee research site in Sitio Bacoco, Barangay Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur.

Constantino, Regional Technical Director for Operations of the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office XI, during her visit to the Coffee Museum and RCIC facilities on June 18, 2026. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the institutionโs initiatives in coffee research, innovation, technology transfer, and industry development while strengthening collaboration between DSSC and the Department of Agriculture in support of sustainable and competitive coffee production in the Davao Region.

The Regional Coffee Innovation Center (RCIC) of Davao del Sur State College welcomed a group of Mexican tourists on June 10, 2026, as part of their Davao del Sur Coffee Tour Experience. Organized through the Provincial Tourism Development and Cultural Promotions Office (PTDCPO) and CES Travel and Tours, the visit showcased the provinceโs rich coffee heritage, industry innovations, and ongoing efforts to support local coffee farmers. Guests toured the RCIC and Museum, learned about the coffee value chain, and engaged with coffee experts who shared insights into the unique qualities and growing potential of Davao del Surโs coffee industry.
