There are moments when words seem too small for the gratitude we wish to express.

Governor Dax, thank you for giving a part of your life to the people of Quirino. Your service reached far beyond offices and programs—it reached schools, families, teachers, and children, including those of us here at Upper Gabriela Integrated School.

We may no longer have the opportunity to see you among us, but the good you have done will remain in the stories we tell, in the lives you touched, and in the memories we keep.

We remember you not only with sorrow, but with gratitude for having served, cared, and made a difference.

Thank you, Governor Dax. Your service will always be remembered.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Upper Gabriela Integrated School 💚

Maraming salamat aming Gov. Dax! May you rest in eternal peace 🕊️ Our condolences to the bereaved 😇

The House of Representatives, led by Speaker Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III, joins the nation in mourning the passing of Quirino Governor and former Congressman Dakila Carlo “Dax” Cua.

Governor Cua served the people of Quirino as Representative of the province’s lone district during the 15th, 16th, and 17th Congresses. At the time of his passing, he was President of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) and United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC).

We remember Governor Dax for his years of dedicated public service and his commitment to the people of Quirino and to strengthening local governance in the Philippines and across the Asia-Pacific region.

We extend our heartfelt prayers and deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones, especially his wife, Quirino Lone District Rep. Midy N. Cua, and to the people of Quirino whom he faithfully served.

May he rest in peace.

UGIS athletes bag 2 silver, 2 bronze medals in Provincial Meet 2026

Frances D. Dulnuan powered her way to a silver medal in the 1,500-meter run and a bronze in the 800-meter run, while joining the silver-medal finish in the 4x400-meter relay as fellow UGIS athlete Allyza Dulnuan helped secure a medal in the 4x100-meter relay at the 2026 Provincial Meet.

Congratulations, UGIS sprinters and runner! Hats-off to all the coaches!

Dulnuan cousins shine in DSPC; place 5th, 8th in copyediting and headline writing

GABRIELA SILANG, Diffun — Rising to the challenge of division-level competition, two UGISian learners secured spots in Copyediting and Headline Writing in English during the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held at Diffun National High School on September 2–4.

Grade 8 learner Jerika Dulnuan, a returning campus journalist, clinched 5th place in the secondary category, while her cousin, Grade 5 learner Ruth Dulnuan, a newcomer to campus journalism, placed 8th in the elementary category.

Their achievement came after two weeks of preparation and school-level training focused on sharpening their skills in copyediting and headline writing.

“The two-week preparation and at the same time school level training has led the way for these learners to sharpen their skills in copyediting and headline writing,” the coach said.

The coach also said that the intensive district-level training helped further develop the learners’ competencies in spotting errors in news articles.

Before advancing to the division competition, the two journalists placed fourth and fifth in the recently concluded District Schools Press Conference, earning their spots in the DSPC.

Other finalists from the school were also recognized for their participation and performance in the event. They included Kashmir Clevy Nario, Nica Julienne Gacia, and Hera Rysie Elektra Gonsay.

Meanwhile, the two awardees are set to receive cash prizes from school head Roderick Tadeja, who earlier pledged monetary incentives to learners who would bring home awards from the 2026 DSPC.

“I promise monetary prizes for those who will bag awards in the upcoming 2026 DSPC,” Tadeja said during a school flag ceremony.
