NOW | AMUMA Framework Implementation Phase 1 (Malita, Davao Occidental)
Building on the launch of AMUMA in 2023, Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) initiated the framework as its flagship project, laying the foundation for its community-based approach to governance and development. In partnership, DILG Region XI is now co-leading the rollout, taking on a key role in advancing the groundwork and scaling its implementation across pilot areas.
Through the Ateneo Resource Center for Local Governance (ARCLG), AdDU remains at the forefront of implementation, actively engaged in Phase 1 activities in the Municipality of Malita, Davao Occidental, covering the pilot areas of Jose Abad Santos, Don Marcelino, and Malita.
The initiative brings together the Local Chief Executive, alongside key stakeholders and sectoral representatives from the academe, health, nutrition, education, and the communityโreflecting a shared leadership between AdDU and DILG in driving collaborative, community-centered development.
The morning sessions feature situational analyses presented through infographics on child health, nutrition, and literacy by Dr. Janis Olavides of the Department of Health - Region XI. These are complemented by discussions on early learning and the contextualization of AMUMA 2.0.
In the afternoon, participants will engage in a Stakeholder Analysis Workshop and a Collaboration Readiness Assessment, where they will collectively design and refine the initiativeโstrengthening intersectoral coordination and sustaining shared ownership of the AMUMA Framework.
This initiative highlights the strong and strategic partnership between DILG XI - Davao Region, led by Assistant Regional Director Charissa T. Guerta, CESO V, and ARCLG in co-creating and implementing the expanded AMUMA Framework in local communities.
Representing ARCLG in this activity are Dr. Eminel Jane M. Alvior (Director), Ms. Ronyth Tabingo (Program Officer), and Justin T. Felicia (Lead Volunteer).

Sa paggunita ng Araw ng Kagitingan, inaalala natin ang tapang at sakripisyo ng mga bayaning Pilipino. Nawaโy magsilbi itong inspirasyon upang patuloy nating ipaglaban ang tama at ang bayan. ๐ต๐ญ

LOOK | Environmental Governance Webinar: Building Stronger Systems for the Environment
๐
06 February 2026
As part of the Ateneo Resource Center for Local Governanceโs (ARCLG) continuing efforts to provide accessible and inclusive capacity-building initiatives, the Environmental Governance Webinar brought together over 100 participants from various schools, organizations, agencies, institutions, and local government units (LGUs) across the Philippines, all eager to engage with and deepen their understanding of environmental governance.
To better anchor the discussion, the session began with a pre-assessment, allowing the speakers to thoughtfully thread the fundamentals and underscore the relevance of environmental governance in todayโs policy and development landscape.
The webinar formally opened with Dr. Eminel Jane Alvior, Director of ARCLG, who welcomed the participants and set the tone for a meaningful and engaging discussion.
Dr. Rhea R. Mapanao, Associate Professor at Ateneo de Davao University, presented an overview of the Fundamentals of Environmental Governance. Drawing from her experience in teaching, research, and institutional development, her presentation integrated environmental management, organizational studies, and sustainability leadership within higher education.
The discussion was further enriched by Dr. Reynaldo C. Navacilla, Regional Director of the Department of Agriculture โ National Meat Inspection Service, who shared valuable insights on the Role of Local Governance in Environmental Protection, with particular emphasis on Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES), sustainable development, and good governance.
This webinar also served as a prelude to the upcoming intensive Training on Environmental Governance scheduled for April 2026.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our speakers and to all participants for their active engagement and commitment to building stronger systems for the environment. ๐ฑ
