[𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗥𝗦] The 4th International Multidisciplinary Research-Based Extension Conference (IMREC) 2026 proudly welcomes Post Dr. Pal Tapas, Assistant Professor (Stage III) of Geography at Raiganj University, India, as one of its distinguished International Plenary Speakers.

Dr. Tapas will deliver a plenary address on the topic, "Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals Through Research Translation and Extension Leadership."

His plenary session will explore how research translation and extension leadership can serve as powerful drivers in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Drawing from international perspectives and best practices, he will discuss how higher education institutions can strengthen community engagement, promote evidence-informed interventions, and transform research into sustainable and measurable societal impact.

With the theme, "Translating Multidisciplinary Research into Scalable Extension Innovations: Driving Evidence-Based Interventions and Sustainable Development," IMREC 2026 brings together researchers, extension practitioners, educators, policymakers, industry leaders, students, and development partners from around the world.

Project ACHIEVE of Davao de Oro State College–Montevista spearheaded the 𝗦𝗜𝗠 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗜𝗠 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 on July 22, 2026, at the DdOSC Montevista Audio-Visual Room, with incoming fourth year Bachelor of Elementary Education students participating as SIM developers.

The writeshop aimed to strengthen the competencies of participants in developing high quality Strategic Instructional Materials (SIMs), teacher-made instructional resources that help learners master least learned competencies through engaging, structured, and competency-based learning activities.

Rieshia P. Vale, MAEd, opened the lecture sessions with a discussion on curriculum and constructive alignment of learning competencies. Succeeding sessions were facilitated by Chris G. Costan, MAEd, and Rafael Brian D. Agraviador, MAEEd, who presented the essential components of Strategic Instructional Materials and provided participants with practical guidance in developing effective instructional resources.

Continuing the learning sessions, Dejie Mike Anthonnie N. Failagao, LPT, delivered a lecture on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and prompt engineering while emphasizing the responsible and ethical use of AI in instructional material development. Alren John D. Dabon, MED-ECE, then discussed the proper packaging and layout of SIMs to ensure organized, engaging, and learner-friendly instructional materials.

Arnel T. Serentas, Ph.D., Mylene C. Dabalos, MAEEd, Mary Grace L. Solde, LPT, and Jingjing D. Valdez also served as facilitators, providing technical guidance and mentoring participants throughout the writeshop.

The writeshop forms part of Project ACHIEVE's continuing efforts to strengthen instructional material development, foster innovative teaching practices, and support quality elementary education through the development of effective learning resources.

In support of the Philippine Red Cross Davao de Oro Chapter's observance of National Disaster Resilience Month 2026, representatives from Davao de Oro State College–Montevista Branch participated in the Tree Planting Activity held on July 11, 2026, at the Nabunturan Balik-Kinaiyahan site in Barangay San Isidro, Nabunturan.

Representing the branch were Priendhel P. Rodriguez of the Extension Services Section, John Leonard O. Saberon of the Entrepreneurship Department, and Mark Anthony G. Balaba of the Campus Safety Management Section.

DdOSC Extension Services Section–Montevista extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Philippine Red Cross - Davao de Oro Chapter, through Jennifer D. Gula-Yañez, RMT, OIC-Chapter Administrator, for the invitation and the opportunity to take part in this meaningful environmental initiative, reaffirming the importance of inter-agency collaboration in advancing environmental stewardship and strengthening community disaster resilience.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐆𝐄 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥

Project BRIDGE: Bridging Opportunities and Education for DOPE (Deprived, Oppressed, Poor, and Exploited) Communities of Davao de Oro State College (DdOSC) Montevista Branch conducted a Community Needs Assessment (CNA) at New Dalaguete Elementary School (NDES), Barangay New Dalaguete, Montevista, Davao de Oro, on July 9, 2026.

Before the assessment, the DdOSC Extension Services team paid a courtesy call to Officer-in-Charge Manuel G. Remoreras and the NDES faculty to discuss the project's objectives and reinforce the partnership between the college and the school.

The Community Needs Assessment marked the project's initial phase in identifying the priority needs of the partner community, ensuring that future extension initiatives are responsive, relevant, and evidence-based.

Pre-identified malnourished learners underwent health assessments, literacy evaluations, and numeracy screenings to establish baseline data that will guide the implementation of the project's interventions.

Project Leader Rieshia P. Vale, MAEd, led the activity with the support of Lead Extensionist Chris G. Costan, MAEd, Extensionist Dejie Mike Anthonnie Failagao, and Extension Services personnel Priendhel P. Rodriguez.

Through Project BRIDGE, DdOSC Montevista Branch remains committed to delivering sustainable educational interventions that improve learning outcomes and promote the well-being of learners in deprived, oppressed, poor, and exploited (DOPE) communities.

Isip kabahin sa pagsaulog sa ika-13 nga Founding Anniversary sa Davao de Oro State College, nagpahigayon ang DdOSC–Montevista Branch og 𝙈𝙤𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙖𝙣 sa Barangay New Dalaguete pinaagi sa mga tigpasiugda sa Project LITERACY (Literacy, Arts, and Culture Conservation and Preservation) ug sa Extension Services Section–Montevista, uban sa suporta sa mga opisyal sa BLGU New Dalaguete karong adlawa, Hunyo 2, 2026.

Miapil sa aktibidad ang mga ALS ug regular learners nga interesadong nakigbahin sa mga guided reading sessions. Nakapahimulos usab sila sa mga librong gidala ngadto sa komunidad aron mapalambo ang ilang kahanas sa pagbasa ug pagsabot sa ilang gibasa. Dugang pa niini, nakadawat usab ang mga partisipante og school supplies isip dugang suporta sa ilang pagkat-on.

Pinaagi niini nga inisyatiba, padayon nga mapalig-on sa DdOSC ang kultura sa pagbasa ug pagkat-on sa mga kabatan-onan ug sa komunidad. Nagpakita usab kini sa padayon nga paningkamot sa kolehiyo sa pagpalig-on sa literacy ug paghatag og kalidad ug mas accessible nga edukasyon alang sa tanan.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧!

On May 25, 2026, the students enrolled in NSTP 2 and GED 12 of Davao de Oro State College – Montevista Branch, under the guidance of their respective instructors and in partnership with the Extension Services Section – Montevista Branch, successfully conducted a community outreach activity at BLGU Magsaysay-IPMR for the Indigenous Peoples (IP) Community of Magsaysay, Nabunturan.

Through this outreach activity and community engagement, the students and their instructors demonstrated a shared commitment to service, leadership, and nation-building while strengthening the partnership between the institution and the IP community, fostering meaningful connections and contributing to positive social change.
