A meaningful milestone for the Malita South District Federated Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) as its officers participated in their FIRST division-level leadership activity through the NEXUS 2026: Student Leaders Convergence, held on August 15โ16, 2026, at Boy Blueโs Hillside, Bolila, Malita, Davao Occidental.
The two-day convergence was made possible through the partnership of the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) and JCI Philippines, providing young leaders with a valuable platform to learn, connect, collaborate, and develop their leadership potential. Special appreciation goes to Mr. Leo M. Manisan, LPT, PYDO IV, whose leadership and facilitation contributed to the meaningful learning experiences of the participating student leaders.
The Malita South District delegation actively participated in the Opening Program, Pre-Test, and Leadership in Volunteerism, followed by the Parliamentary Training and Workshop, where the officers gained a deeper understanding of parliamentary procedures and responsible student governance. They also engaged in the Project Development Training, gaining practical knowledge in developing projects that respond to the needs of their schools and communities.
The first day continued with Team Building Activities, strengthening camaraderie, cooperation, trust, and teamwork among the youth leaders. The evening concluded with Fellowship and Trivia Night, giving the participants an opportunity to build friendships and create meaningful memories with fellow student leaders.
On the second day, the delegates took part in the Reading Advocacy Workshop, followed by the Post-Test and Evaluation. They also witnessed and participated in the Project Pitching Competition, where innovative ideas and youth-led solutions were presented. The convergence culminated in the YLEA Awarding Ceremony, Closing Ceremony, and Evaluation, marking the successful completion of two days of leadership learning and youth engagement.
Representing the Malita South District were Jaira Mae Cabca of Ticulon NHS; Christine Mae Asedin of Fulong Maliona M SSNHS; Cherry Joy Agbas and Jia Ayesa Sultan Domato of Kinangan IS; Jeiana Nicole Cumaway Sadon, Zoey Gwenneth W. Rasay, and Al Francis Moรฑera of Ticulon NHS; Steve Jack White and Brian Lutang of Clotildo RBSNHS; and Jhonmark M. Mamontayao of Fulong MNSSNHS. The delegation was accompanied by Ms. Guia Jairah P. Cagas, District SSLG Coordinator, Ticulon NHS, with the assistance of Mr. Marcel Francis San, Teacher-Adviser of the District SSLG President, Fulong MMSSNHS.
This first activity marks the beginning of a new journey for the Malita South District Federated SSLG Officersโa journey anchored on leadership, service, collaboration, and genuine commitment to the youth and the community.
As they take their first steps as district student leaders, may this experience remind them that leadership is not simply about holding a positionโit is about showing up, learning together, serving others, and creating meaningful change.
