The Minimum Wage Commission has officially approved South Korea's 2027 minimum wage after marathon negotiations that continued late into the night.
๐ Official 2027 Minimum Wage
Hourly wage: โฉ10,700
Increase from 2026: โฉ380/hour
Percentage increase: 3.7%
Current (2026): โฉ10,320/hour
Effective date: January 1, 2027
๐ค How the Decision Was Reached
The agreement came after 12 rounds of revised proposals during the final negotiation session.

๏ธEmployers initially wanted to freeze the wage at โฉ10,320.

๏ธ After hours of negotiations, the commission approved โฉ10,700/hour as the legal minimum wage for 2027.
๐ท What This Means for EPS and E-9 Workers
If you are an EPS or E-9 worker in South Korea:

The new minimum wage also applies to you, provided you are covered by the Minimum Wage Act.

Employers cannot legally pay less than โฉ10,700 per hour starting January 1, 2027, except in limited situations specifically allowed by Korean law.
This is now the official result of the 2027 minimum wage deliberation, replacing the earlier negotiation updates that Hourly minimum wage set at 10,700 won for 2027, up 3.7 % from this year"
