Demonstrating preparedness and commitment to disaster risk reduction, Holy Cross of Bunawan actively participated in the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥 (𝐍𝐒𝐄𝐃) on June 18, 2026, at exactly 8:00 a.m.⁣
⁣
The activity aimed to strengthen the awareness and readiness of school administrators, teaching personnel, and non-teaching personnel in responding to possible earthquake emergencies. Following the standard "Duck, Cover, and Hold" procedure, participants carried out the drill in an orderly and disciplined manner before proceeding to the designated evacuation area.⁣
⁣
To ensure the effectiveness of the simulation, members of the Rescue Team conducted a thorough inspection of classrooms, offices, and other school facilities to verify that no individuals were left behind and that all occupants had safely evacuated. Meanwhile, the Information Team performed a headcount and accountability check to confirm the presence and safety of all personnel involved in the exercise.⁣

After the assessment and verification process, 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐬. 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐋. 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐨 officially declared that no casualties, injuries, or missing individuals were recorded during the drill. She further commended the cooperation shown by the school personnel and announced that the activity had been successfully completed, allowing normal school operations to resume.⁣

The Holy Cross of Bunawan successfully conducted its First Earthquake Drill for School Year 2026–2027 on June 11, 2026, at exactly 8:00 A.M. The activity aimed to prepare students, faculty, and staff for possible earthquake emergencies by promoting safety awareness and proper disaster response. Through this drill, the school strengthened its commitment to ensuring the safety and preparedness of the entire school community in times of disaster.

During the drill, participants practiced standard earthquake safety procedures and proceeded to the designated evacuation areas. The Rescue Teams carried out a rescue simulation, demonstrating the proper response and assistance for affected individuals. Meanwhile, monitoring teams conducted a headcount to ensure that all students, administrators, faculty, and staff had safely reached the evacuation area.

The drill concluded at approximately 8:10 A.M. After verifying that no one was missing, 𝖬𝗌. 𝖲𝗁𝗂𝗋𝗅𝖾𝗒 𝖫. 𝖱𝗈𝗆𝗈, Assistant Principal, officially declared the school safe and classes resumed as scheduled.

Through this activity, Holy Cross of Bunawan continues to strengthen disaster preparedness and promote a culture of resiliency and discipline in facing natural calamities.

Holy Cross of Bunawan officially welcomed the School Year 2026–2027 through a meaningful Opening Program hosted by 𝘔𝘴. 𝘌𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘩 𝘓𝘶𝘺𝘢𝘰.⁣⁣

The event commenced with a Flag Ceremony conducted by 𝘔𝘴. 𝘔𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘯 𝘔𝘰𝘴𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘥𝘢, followed by the inspiring Welcome Message of 𝘚𝘳. 𝘔𝘢. 𝘑𝘶𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘢 𝘌. 𝘙𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘰, 𝘛𝘋𝘔, who warmly welcomed the students and encouraged them to pursue excellence with faith and determination.⁣⁣

The administrators, faculty, and staff were formally introduced by 𝘔𝘴. 𝘚𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘭𝘦𝘺 𝘓. 𝘙𝘰𝘮𝘰, Assistant Principal.⁣⁣

The program was further enlivened by captivating musical performances from selected students: Hadassah Esther COV Sagot (Grade 3 – Angel Zedkiel), Lordelyn Lasib (Grade 9 – St. Mark), Kate Ralota and Chloe Cadivida (Grade 10 – St. Peter), Yacinth Verona (Grade 10 – St. James), and Crislean Labriga (Grade 12).⁣⁣

The audience was also treated to a special song number by 𝘔𝘴. 𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘢 𝘔𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘻𝘢.⁣⁣

The celebration continued with a lively community dance led by the SBG and SC Officers, where students and teachers enthusiastically joined in, showcasing the spirit of unity and camaraderie.⁣⁣

The program concluded with the recitation of the Holy Rosary, seeking God's guidance and blessings for the entire school community throughout the academic year.⁣⁣

ANNOUNCEMENT!

Following the recent earthquake and after a thorough inspection of our school facilities, we are pleased to inform everyone that our school building has been declared safe for occupancy by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel.

In view of this, classes and office work will resume tomorrow, June 10, 2025, following the regular schedule.

All learners, teaching personnel, and non-teaching personnel are advised to report accordingly. While normal operations will resume, everyone is encouraged to remain alert and continue observing safety measures in the event of possible aftershocks.

In anticipation of possible aftershocks and pending the completion of ongoing structural assessments, government offices in Davao City, including local government offices and national government agencies, shall adopt a work-from-home arrangement tomorrow, June 9, 2026, EXCEPT for offices providing safety and security, health, sanitation, traffic management, social services, and disaster and emergency response services.

The private sector is encouraged to adopt similar arrangements to ensure the welfare and safety of their employees.

Face-to-face classes at all levels in both public and private educational institutions shall remain suspended tomorrow, June 9, 2026, pending the completion of safety inspections.

Educational institutions are encouraged to adopt online or distance learning modalities to ensure the welfare and safety of their students and personnel.
