Established in 2023, AWC aims to vaccinate, rehome, and spay/neuter campus animals at UPMin. (We are not a rescue organization.)

Sadly, Liblib and her bestie, SOM1, had to return to campus after their new home setup did not work out as hoped. While they adjusted well in many ways, both dogs were found to chase catsโ€”and since their new house had many, it became unsafe for everyone involved.

As heartbreaking as this is, the experience helped us better understand the kind of home where they would truly thrive:
๐Ÿพ A home with a fenced yard
๐Ÿพ A cat-free environment (other dogs are absolutely okay!)
๐Ÿพ A family who can provide proper food and vet care

Both Liblib and SOM1 are spayed/neutered and vaccinated against rabies. They are incredibly social dogs who love both people and fellow dogs. Liblib, especially, would choose affection and cuddles over food any day. ๐Ÿฅน

We would love for them to be adopted together, but they can also be adopted separately. During their time apart, SOM1 showed that he can adjust well on his own too.

Send us a message if youโ€™re interested in adopting a campus dog! ๐ŸพWe can personally transport them anywhere within Davao City to help them safely get to their new home.

Theyโ€™ve already gone through so muchโ€”weโ€™re hoping their next home will finally be their forever one. ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿšจ SOS: Help us find Charlie ๐Ÿพ

Charlie usually hangs out near UPMin Guard House 1, but heโ€™s been missing for over 3 days now. Weโ€™re really worried he may have gotten spooked during the recent heavy thunderstorms ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

If you spot him, please send us a message so we can check on his condition right away.

Over the weekend, Jolina escaped after breaking part of her crate during a bad thunderstorm. Our volunteers have since fixed the enclosure, and she still shows up during feeding time.

Weโ€™ve only managed to find 1 out of her 3 puppies. ๐Ÿ˜”

๐Ÿšซ Please do not attempt to retrieve the puppies on your own for everyoneโ€™s safety.

Weโ€™re hoping to safely reunite Jolina with her pups soon so we can move forward with their care, adoption, and Jolinaโ€™s spaying. Every sighting helpsโ€”thank you so much! ๐Ÿ™

With the help of our volunteers, we've safely trapped one of the two remaining tagged mama dogs on campus, along with her 3 puppies! Theyโ€™re now in our rehab crate. Jolina, as we've named mama dog, is showing signs of malnutrition. She's part of the notoriously skittish Gray family. Her puppies, however, are very ๐’ƒ๐’๐’•๐’„๐’‰๐’๐’ˆ.

In-kind donations may be dropped off at the GAD Office or CARIM. Monetary donations may be coursed through our partner organization, Youth For Animals - UP Mindanao (we've attached their QR in the last photo).

(P.S. Our social media person has absolutely fallen in love with the puppiesโ€ฆ and we regret to inform everyone that the self-imposed 4-photo rule has been emotionally overruled ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ“ธ)

After many attempts, we finally caught Blackeyeโ€”one of the most elusive dogs on campusโ€”and had him neutered, thanks to a trap lent by the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).

Next goal: his 3 siblings and their mom.

Huge thanks to the City Veterinarian's Office - Davao City for helping transfer Blackeye from the trap to a crate, to Ms. Darlene, Ms. Ana, and Ms. Elay for setting up and regularly checking on the trap, and to a/Prof. Dianne Ligue-Sabio and her husband, Sir Rey, for generously covering the vet costs.

This effort is a reminder that meaningful progress in managing the stray populationโ€”both on campus and beyondโ€”relies on collective action and cooperation.

Three of our regulars at the EBL Dorm are now officially spayed/neutered and vaccinated against rabies:

Small steps like these make a big difference. By managing the stray population, weโ€™re helping create a safer campusโ€”for both people and animalsโ€”while reducing the risk of bites and rabies.

Special shoutout to Ms. Daday for assisting us in tagging animals around the EBL vicinity. Through her help, we were able to spay 3 female dogs last year. And this year, weโ€™re aiming to reach even more cats and dogs in the area. ๐Ÿ’š

After a particularly rigorous neuter surgery (which doubled as a teaching session for our student volunteers ๐Ÿ˜…), SOM1 was sent to a volunteerโ€™s home for monitoringโ€”we felt he wasnโ€™t quite ready for release just yet.

Now hereโ€™s where it gets even better: SOM1 was brought to the same home where Liblib now livesโ€”his old bestie. So you can imagine our (not-so-surprised) happiness when the volunteer told us:

โœ”๏ธ SOM1 charmed their mom (now his grandma)

SOM1 didnโ€™t have the easiest startโ€”he had severe mange and was badly malnourished. Thanks to the SOM staff who stepped in, he got a second chance. Special shoutout to Jake, Maโ€™am Rodge, and Sir Levi for looking out for him! ๐Ÿ’™

Neutered, vaccinated, and thriving!

A few months ago, we got a report about a cat with a pretty serious wound on his side hanging out by the campus entrance guard house. After a round of antibiotics, he healed up like a champ. With regular feeding, our volunteer Alex slowly earned his trustโ€”enough to finally get him to our spay and neuter event last Saturday.

We ๐™™๐™ž๐™™ expect a bit of post-surgery attitude (honestly, fair), but Charlie said โ€œno hard feelingsโ€โ€”and was back to begging for snacks the very next time a volunteer visited his spot. Some things never change. ๐Ÿ˜ธ

Meet Kali (top photos) and Papa Dog (bottom photos). They also received their anti-rabies vaccinations.

Kali used to be always pregnantโ€”but not anymore! No more surprise litters, just a well-deserved break ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’›

Papa Dog, on the other hand, has quite the tough-guy reputation and tends to get into scuffles with other dogs. Weโ€™re hoping that neutering will help mellow him out and keep the peace in his area.

Both dogs are now back in their areasโ€”making puppy eyes at passersby like the pros they are. โœจ
