The 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 – 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗛𝗠) successfully conducted the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 (𝗣𝗔𝗖) 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 via Zoom, anchored on the theme “𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆: 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.”

The forum served as a strategic platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration among academe, industry practitioners, government agencies, alumni, and students, with the shared goal of strengthening curriculum relevance, industry alignment, and global competitiveness of the MITHM program. Through collective insights, the activity reinforced the University’s commitment to quality education, decent work, and strong partnerships in tourism and hospitality development.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our PAC members and participants, including MITHM faculty, alumni, representatives from the 𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢 (𝘿𝙊𝙏 𝙓𝙄), 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙮𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙊𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙠𝙚𝙮 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙮 - 𝙎𝙚𝙙𝙖 𝘼𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙯𝙖 𝙃𝙤𝙩, 𝙂𝙤 𝙃𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝘿𝙖𝙫𝙖𝙤, 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙎𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙡, as well as 𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙢𝙣𝙞 and 𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙤𝙧 𝙈𝙄𝙏𝙃𝙈 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 whose perspectives enriched the discussion.

A major highlight of the forum was the 𝙊𝙣𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙙-𝘾𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙋𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙡 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣, where participants engaged in focused small-group conversations to assess the current MITHM curriculum, identify gaps and emerging industry needs, and propose strategies for strengthening student competencies and faculty development. The collaborative format enabled rich exchanges of ideas and actionable recommendations that will guide continuous program improvement.

This activity was organized and facilitated by the 𝗛𝗣𝗖 𝟭𝟬𝟲/𝗟 – 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗠.𝗜.𝗖.𝗘. students of the College of Hospitality Education, providing them with a valuable experiential learning opportunity in event planning, coordination, and professional engagement.

Together, we continue to bridge education and industry, ensuring that MITHM graduates remain responsive, relevant, and globally competitive.

The 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗛𝗠) conducted the culminating session of its training-workshop series with the Bagobo-Tagabawa Community, emphasizing the integration of cultural storytelling, tour design, and language documentation as foundations of sustainable community-based tourism.

The 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟵 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 marked the culmination of 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝟯–𝟱, continuing the learning outcomes established in Series 1–2, which focused on 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗕𝗧 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀.

This final session emphasized the 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 (𝗖𝗕𝗧) 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀.

During the session, participants:
*️⃣Learned the basics of CBT tour design, including sequencing, timing, community roles, and tourist engagement
*️⃣Linked local stories to existing attractions, food experiences, crafts, etc.
*️⃣Conducted a systematic inventory of local Bagobo words, with Cebuano translations, as a core heritage preservation activity
*️⃣Collaborated in consolidating outputs intended for the development of a glossary of terms book and a story book, supporting both cultural documentation and future tourism interpretation

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗛𝗠) 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗠 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 conducted the thd session of its training-workshop with the 𝘽𝙖𝙜𝙤𝙗𝙤-𝙏𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙬𝙖 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮, focusing on how local stories, legends, and traditions can be transformed into concrete tourism activities and experiences.

This activity is part of 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝟯–𝟱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴-𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, serving as a continuation of the earlier Series 1–2 sessions previously conducted with the Bagobo-Tagabawa Community. The earlier sessions introduced the foundations of cultural heritage awareness, storytelling, and interpretation, as well as case studies and best practices in community-based tourism (CBT).

Building on these foundations, the 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟮 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 focused on 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀.

During the session, participants:
*️⃣Reviewed outputs from previous storytelling documentation activities
*️⃣Learned methods of cultural interpretation, including storytelling trails, guided tours, cultural performances, hands-on workshops, and nature-based storytelling
*️⃣Participated in a workshop on designing story-based tourism activities, selecting local stories and developing sample tourism experiences
*️⃣Presented and shared group outputs for feedback and refinement
