Our Coffee Post-Harvest and Sensory Evaluation Training, funded and implemented by the 𝗗𝗧𝗜 𝗥𝗔𝗣𝗜𝗗 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁- 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲, brought together passionate farmers and producers with one shared goal — to raise the bar for Philippine coffee.

From setting the right mindset about specialty coffee, to hands-on demonstrations in harvesting, fermentation, drying, storage, green grading, and cupping — each session was designed to equip Davao Oriental coffee producers with the skills and confidence to produce competition-level coffees.

🚨 Red Stem/Twig Borer 🚨

During today’s field demo, we encountered a case of red stem/twig borer infestation on a coffee tree. A timely reminder of how crucial regular farm monitoring and sanitation are in managing pests and diseases.

This tiny but destructive pest can weaken coffee trees by boring into stems and twigs, disrupting nutrient flow and causing dieback. Without early detection and proper management, infestations like these can lead to significant yield losses.

At AG Farm Innovation, we emphasize preventive care through proper pruning, rehabilitation, and nutrient management; and always encourage farmers to keep their coffee farms clean, well-maintained, and closely monitored.

🪱 A healthy coffee farm starts with farmer’s awareness, action, and education.

Last week, our team traveled to Davao de Oro to conduct a training on Coffee Rehabilitation and Fertilization Program. The session aimed to equip local farmers with practical knowledge to restore unproductive coffee trees and improve yields through proper nutrition and care.

This training was made possible through the DTI RAPID Growth Project, funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
