The "Chinese Bridge" Educators Delegation from Ateneo de Davao University and Davao Oriental State University-main Campus in the Philippines visited 华侨大学 Huaqiao University during May 30 - June 3.
On the afternoon of May 31, Dr. Lin Hongyu, Vice President of Huaqiao University, met with the delegation at the Chinese Language Education and Training Center, accompanied by heads from the Office of International Chinese Language Education and the International Exchange & Cooperation Office.
Vice President Lin Hongyu extended a warm welcome to the delegates and introduced Huaqiao University’s development history, strong academic disciplines, and existing cooperation with Philippine universities. He expressed hopes for both sides to leverage their respective strengths and further deepen academic exchanges and people-to-people connections.
Fr. Antonio M. Basilio, Vice President of Ateneo de Davao University, and Dr. Edito B. Sumile, Vice President of Davao Oriental State University, shared their universities’ profiles and discussed potential cooperation plans in Chinese language teaching, student exchange, and faculty visits. Both parties expressed interests in expanding deeper collaboration across more fields.
During their visit, the delegation toured several distinctive engineering facilities at Huaqiao University, including the Spark Exhibition Hall, the Institute of Luminescent Materials and Information Displays, and the 5G Joint Innovation Laboratory. They also observed classes at the Preparatory Education College and the National Tourism Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, and had friendly exchanges with Filipino international students and visiting scholars.
