The USeP College of Engineering (CoE) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) XI successfully wrapped up REnewergy 2026: Renewable Energy Caravan on September 15, 2026, at the CoE Audio Visual Room, USeP Obrero Campus.
Centered on the theme "Connecting Universities Through Renewable Energy, Knowledge Sharing, Research, and Innovation," the event brought together budding engineers, academic faculty, and regional experts to advance sustainable technological solutions across Mindanao.
Engr. Andrei Kyr L. Austria, Science Research Specialist from the Department of Energy Mindanao Field Office, delivered a comprehensive breakdown of the Renewable Energy Landscape in Mindanao, detailing regional energy targets, policy frameworks, and ongoing transitions toward greener power sources.
Engr. Jimmy F. Vale, Jr, Poject Technical Specialist for Microgrid Enterprises at DOST XI, led an engaging session titled From Community Challenges to Engineering Solutions: Research and Innovation Opportunities in Renewable Energy, pinpointing vital research gaps that student engineers can turn into real-world technological breakthroughs.
To present reflection from educational-driven industry exposure, USeP CoE faculty member Engr. Nikka Samantha A. Basan showcased practical field applications in her session Deploying Renewable Energy Technology for the Microgrid Enterprises Project in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) Communities, emphasizing how sustainable microgrids directly empower remote populations.
The IEC Caravan was attended by fourth-year Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering students from USeP CoE.
REnewergy 2026 supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goalsโspecifically SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
