SHS ‘Underdog’ triumphs over seasoned college competitors, clinches National TESDA Skills Olympics berth

Amid the fierce competition at the 2026 Regional TESDA Skills Olympics held on March 24–26, 2026 at the TESDA KhorPhil Training Center in Buhisan, Davao City, Carlos P. Garcia Senior High School’s Christ John Muana emerged victorious, proving that dedication and skill can match even more experienced college-level competitors.

The win reflects both the student’s hard work and the school’s commitment to nurturing globally competent learners, signaling a major milestone for CPGSHS as it prepares students for higher-level competitions.

"We extend our warmest congratulations to Christ John Muana and his coach, Ma’am Ada Namoc, for bringing home the Gold Medal in Hotel Reception during the 2026 Regional TESDA Skills Olympics," said School Principal Joberth A. Sabanal. "This achievement is a testament to Christ John’s passion, discipline, and determination, and to the school’s commitment to skills development."

The victory also highlights the importance of mentorship in achieving excellence, as Coach Ada Namoc’s guidance helped Christ John refine his skills and build the confidence to compete successfully against seasoned participants.

"His passion and determination truly showed in this achievement. And with Coach Ada's guidance and constant support, it only helped bring out the best in him. I am very thankful that they've made CPGSHS proud,” Sir Sabanal added.

With his victory at the regional level, Christ John Muana has now garnered the opportunity to represent the Davao City Division at the National TESDA Skills Olympics in 2026, where he is set showcase his skills on a larger stage, gain further experience, and compete for national recognition.
