ALS Matina District successfully conducted a series of activities in preparation for the opening of classes, namely the Literacy Mapping, Brigada Eskwela, and Enrollment Period for School Year 2026–2027. These activities were spearheaded by ALS Teachers in coordination with community stakeholders and partner volunteers, in line with the continuing thrust of the Department of Education to expand access to basic education for out-of-school youth and adults.

The Literacy Mapping activity was conducted within the two barangays - Matina Crossing and Matina Aplaya for the whole month of May 2026 to locate and profile potential ALS learners . The team visited households and community centers to gather relevant data, identify learning needs, and encourage potential learners to enroll in the program. This activity provided a clearer picture of the educational status of the community and served as a foundation for targeted ALS implementation.

During the Brigada Eskwela period (June 1-5, 2026), ALS teachers and volunteers actively participated in the preparation of learning spaces. Efforts included cleaning, organizing instructional materials, and ensuring that community learning centers were safe and conducive for learning. The spirit of bayanihan was evident as stakeholders collaborated to support the program despite limited resources.

Meanwhile, the Enrollment Period was conducted simultaneously, allowing identified learners from the mapping activity to register in the ALS program. ALS teachers assisted in the completion of enrollment forms and provided orientation regarding program expectations and learning modalities. This ensured a smooth transition from recruitment to formal participation in ALS classes.

Overall, the combined implementation of Literacy Mapping, Brigada Eskwela, and Enrollment Period in ALS Matina District strengthened community engagement and improved learner participation. These activities reaffirm the commitment of ALS teachers to bring inclusive, accessible, and flexible education to all learners.

|ALS Matina District - Literacy Mapping|

The activity started with a courtesy call to Brgy. Captain Hon. Joel Santes of Brgy. Matina Crossing to formally coordinate and seek support for the ALS literacy initiatives in the community.

Afterwards, we proceeded to Palanca Village and paid a courtesy visit to the Purok Leader, Ma’am Emma Zambales to discuss the purpose of mapping and strengthen community partnership.

Following the coordination, the team conducted Literacy Mapping in Palanca Village to identify potential ALS learners and gather relevant educational information from community residents.

The activity was successfully carried out through the cooperation and participation of 5 ALS Mobile Teachers and 3 BPOSA Teachers. The team’s efforts contributed to strengthen community engagement and expand educational opportunities for out-of-school youth and adults.

Our sincere appreciation to our EPSA-II, Ma'am Aliciasheilamarie Ardinesbontilaoquimbo Dabalos for your guidance, supervision, and continuous encouragement throughout the preparation and conduct of ALS Matina District A&E Mock Test.

We would like also to extend our gratitude to our District Supervisor, Ma'am Vanz Alperez AV and to all the Principals of Matina District for their support in making yesterday’s mock test a success most especially to the principal of DMGES, Ma'am Leilani Rodriguez for taking the time to be present and for sharing words of encouragement that motivated both the learners and the implementers.

Last February 09, 2026, Ma'am Alicia Dabalos, EPSA II conducted a monitoring and provided technical assistance at ALS Matina District especially to the learners in preparation for the A&E Test.

Her guidance and hands-on support truly made a big difference in strengthening learners’ readiness and boosting their confidence. Every clarification, reminder, and encouragement helped ensure that no learner is left behind.

ALS Matina District welcomed MAEd ALS-2 students from the University of Southeastern Philippines–Obrero for an immersion activity specifically at Don Manuel H. Gutierrez Sr. ES and Daniel R. Aguinaldo NHS on January 31, 2026.

They witnessed live ALS classes especially on how we conducted our learning competency enhancement in preparation for the A&E National Test.
Following the observation period, an interactive dialogue session enabled participants to pose questions and seek clarification on their observations to deepened their comprehension of ALS program implementation.

ALS Matina District is so grateful to the supportive principals, Ma’am Leilani Rodriguez of DMGES and Sir Romeo Camilotes of DRANHS. Your trust, support, and leadership mean so much to our ALS learners and implementers.
