Youth and students, have your voice shape the education of tomorrow!

UNESCO: Through a global survey and consultation meetings, young people and youth organizations worldwide are called to share their views on three core themes: young peopleโ€™s vision and aspirations for the world, the changes they would like to see in education and learning, and the actions they are willing to take to help bring about these changes. The survey will be open until 20 September 2026.

Take part in the global survey and share your perspectives: https://www.unesco.org/sdg4education2030/en/articles/education-beyond-2030-global-youth-and-student-consultations-shape-future-education-agenda

At the very least, we learn from each other and hold each other accountable. Kailangan natin ng community of practice para sama-sama nating buohin ang kaalaman na kailangan ng propesyon natin.

READ: Connect Talino teachers publish in Springer Nature's Discover Education journal

Filipino STEM research teachers, as part of Connect Talino's STARTLES (Systematic Theorizing of Authentic Research Teaching and Learning Experiences in STEM) project, conducted self-study research to support pedagogical decisions during research mentoring. In the absence of formal frameworks, quantitative evidence, and a deep literature in science teacher education, the authors turned to theory-building to understand better the values and cognition necessary for quality STEM research mentoring.

We hope that teachers across the country will find this useful. We will strive to continue establishing the teaching of STEM research to young learners as a crucial field of study in the Philippines and beyond.

Project PEARLS Lecture Series: Navigating Student Research Competitions (Episode 8)
With Sir Don King Evangelista, NCR Research Advisers Association

The highest achievement Filipino students could aim for in their high school STEM research is to represent the Philippines in the International Science and Engineering Fair held annually at the United States. But, how does that even begin? What do teachers and students need to be thinking about to be part of our national efforts to showcase the work of our students? This video gives teachers a great insider perspective on how to get started thinking for success in these events.

Also in this video, Sir DK interviews Sir Jann Andre Padua, a judge at various Science and Technology Fairs, to share with us insider perspectives on what judges like him look for when assessing student projects.

Project PEARLS Lecture Series: Design and Analysis of Experiments (Episode 7)
With Asst. Prof. Sherelyn Evangelio, UP Mindanao

A lot of STEM Research projects are experiments, but do you know how to design one, and how to conduct ANOVA? In this comprehensive lecture meant to contain all relevant basics, review on all the important topics you would need to succeed in your experimental research.

As this is an intermediate to advanced lecture, we would recommend you to read and work through our PDF Modules 6 and 7 if you have less statistical experience. We have also included example simple R files and datasets in our link below so that you can follow along how to do the ANOVA.

Project PEARLS Lecture Series: Choosing Methods (Episode 6)
With Le Dolino, Tanim Talino

Have you heard of research students who have to start over in the middle of the year because they realized they couldn't implement their approved title? In this video, Le Dolino offers five tips to ensure that methods are intentionally chosen so that students can focus on succeeding.

Project PEARLS Lecture Series: Reviewing Literature (Episode 5)
With Dr. Caroline Jaraula, Marine Science Institute

You cannot do research without reading research. In this video, learn how to find some literature to read, and understand how the whole research project can change from a good literature review. Our speaker for this week shares her experiences with her team and students, through fieldwork in marine environments like the Tubbataha Reef and the Spratlys, and how their literature reviews were presented as tables, diagrams and maps, which is something people rarely talk about.

Project PEARLS Lecture Series: Drafting Research Questions and Logic Models (Episode 4)
With Dr. Chosel Lawagon, University of Mindanao

Every research project needs research questions, and a plan. Almost every format in the Philippines asks for a conceptual framework. These are often taken for granted and not taught at all, so people don't make the most out of them. In this lecture, learn more about research questions and logic models to have the best possible research projects your students could.
