The 𝐔𝐌 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐂𝐄𝐄) successfully conducted its 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 on 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, at the 𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐮𝐦, 𝐃𝐏𝐓 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨.

The forum brought together representatives from various companies and industry partners, providing an important venue for strengthening academe–industry collaboration, exchanging valuable insights, discussing current industry practices, and exploring potential areas for partnership and cooperation.

It also highlighted the importance of aligning engineering education with the evolving needs, standards, and expectations of the professional community. Through meaningful discussions and engagement with industry representatives, the activity reinforced CEE’s commitment to providing relevant, responsive, and industry-aligned engineering education while preparing students to become competent and globally competitive professionals.

The UM College of Engineering Education extends its sincere appreciation to all participating companies, industry partners, guests, students, and faculty members, who contributed to the success of the forum.

𝘗𝘈𝘙𝘈 𝘈𝘚𝘈 𝘗𝘜𝘋 𝘖𝘠??

“𝘐𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘢 𝘰𝘺.”
“𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘬 𝘵𝘢𝘨 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘬𝘢𝘺 𝘬𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘬𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢-𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦.”
“𝘏𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘦? 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘣𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦?”
“𝘏𝘢? 𝘜𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘢𝘸 𝘵𝘰?”

These four lines pretty much summed up the students’ OJT experience. With more than fifty (50) Host-Training Establishments to which the student interns applied for their training, each student experienced a unique workplace, set of responsibilities, and challenges that contributed to their growth as future engineers.

From long and tiring site visits under the heat, going back to the site because of a missing measurement, taking quick coffee breaks, and figuring out what to do when the actual construction did not match the plans, every day brought something new.

They learned that engineering is not always about getting everything right the first time—𝘒𝘢𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘪𝘪. It is about being observant, asking questions, solving problems, and learning from mistakes. Beyond the technical skills, they also gained patience, teamwork, adaptability, and memories that made their 40-day journey worthwhile.

So, at the end of the day, when asked, “𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘢𝘴𝘢 𝘱𝘶𝘥?”, their answer would be:

“𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘱 𝘮𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘫𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘦𝘳!!!”

Because every early morning, every measurement, every 𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘬 𝘴𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘬𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘪 𝘶𝘨 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦, every “𝘏𝘢? 𝘜𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘢𝘸 𝘵𝘰?”, and every tiring day became part of a meaningful journey—bringing them one step closer to becoming the Engineers they aspire to be. 🏗️👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

IN PHOTO || 4 MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS TO COMMENCE STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM IN INDONESIA

Congratulations and bon voyage to our four BS Mechanical Engineering students as they fly to Indonesia tomorrow to embark on a remarkable semester of international learning and cultural exchange!

The students will be hosted by the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Surabaya, Indonesia, from August to December 2026 under the Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Program.

This marks the first batch of BS Mechanical Engineering students from UM to participate in student mobility, and the second batch of Engineering students to undertake a semester-long academic exchange at ITS.

A national public research university, ITS is renowned for its strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and vocational education. It is currently ranked 7th in Indonesia and 497th globally in the QS World University Rankings.

As they take this step beyond the classroom, we look forward to seeing our students gain new academic perspectives, embrace a different culture, build meaningful connections, and represent the University of Mindanao on the international stage.

Where Future Engineers Meet the Real World: Exploring the Land of Builders
On July 28, 2026, DMCI – Allied Services Group welcomed Civil Engineering students from the University of Mindanao - College of Engineering Education for an Educational Tour Program that provided firsthand exposure to the construction industry.
From the Simulator Expo and Formworks Orientation to the CPBU Site Visit, the students gained valuable insights into engineering practices, construction technologies, and the collaborative work behind every project.
At DMCI–ASG, we are proud to support the next generation of engineers by creating meaningful opportunities that connect academic learning with real-world industry experience.

From 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟕 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, Civil Engineering students enrolled in BCE 327/L embarked on an enriching educational tour across 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚, 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐢𝐜, 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐥.

Accompanied by 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐥, 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐅𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨, 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐀𝐛𝐨 𝐘𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐨, 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐳𝐨𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐆𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐨, the students gained valuable exposure to actual engineering operations, infrastructure projects, construction practices, water resource management, steel manufacturing, transportation planning, and other applications of civil engineering.
