The University Library, UP Mindanao Welcomes Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges - Koronadal BLIS Students and Faculty for Benchmarking Visit
The University Library, UP Mindanao warmly welcomed 21 students and five faculty members of the Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS) program of Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (RMMC) – Koronadal, South Cotabato, for a benchmarking visit to the University Library.
The visit provided the students and faculty with an opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge and insights into the library spaces, services, programs, facilities, and best practices being implemented at UP Mindanao University Library.
As part of the benchmarking activity, University Librarian Dr. Estela R. Dequito provided key insights into the library's operations, followed by Reference and User Education Services Librarian Ma'am Merlyn M. Pausanos, who guided visitors through its functional areas. The orientation offered an overview of how the library’s spaces and resources are designed to support the teaching, learning, research, and extension functions of the university. The discussion also highlighted the library’s evolving role in delivering user-centered services, digital resources, technology-enabled assistance—such as the Smart Library Security System—and responsive learning spaces tailored to the academic community's needs.
The benchmarking visit also served as a meaningful avenue for professional learning and knowledge sharing between the two institutions. The RMMC-Koronadal BLIS students were able to observe actual library operations and practices while gaining perspectives that may help enrich their academic preparation and future careers as library and information professionals.
For UP Mindanao University Library, the visit emphasizes its commitment to collaboration, professional development, and the sharing of innovative library practices with fellow academic institutions in Mindanao.
