COED Dean Brings Lasallian Education to an International Audience.

Dr. Jose Arvin Gacelo, Dean of the College of Education at De La Salle University – Dasmariñas (DLSU-D), joined educators from Indonesia and Japan as a speaker at the ASTra International Lecture Series 2026, held on May 8, 2026, and hosted by Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia.
The online event, streamed live via Zoom, focused on how schools and universities around the world are rethinking education in light of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

His talk, "Quality Education and Lifelong Learning: A Lasallian Commitment at DLSU-D College," walked the international audience through how DLSU-D approaches teaching — not just as a classroom practice, but as a long-term investment in people and communities.
Dr. Gacelo was joined on the panel by:
Dr. Dalan Mehuli Perangin-Angin from Sanata Dharma University, Indonesia
Prof. Asako Shiohara from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Japan
Dr. Yanti from Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia
The session was facilitated by Dr. Ferdinan Okki Kurniawan of Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia.

The College of Education recently welcomed a Department of Education team led by OIC-SDS Elias A. Alicaya Jr. and SGOD Chief Leticia T. Lopez to validate DLSU-D’s application for recognition as an Implementing Alternative Learning System (ALS) Provider for ALS-Dasmariñas.
From checking documents for the Balik-Aral Program to observing our
classrooms and ALS SHS facilities, it’s been a productive day of collaboration and growth.
This initiative also aligns with the university’s mission of being a transformative force in society through education.
