The thyroid gland is a butterfly shaped gland located anteriorly to the trachea. The purpose of the thyroid gland is to produce, store, and release hormones into the bloodstream. The thyroid gland depends on the uptake of _______________________ to synthesize its hormones. The hormones T3 and T4 are responsible for the regulation of body metabolism (brain development, breathing, heart rate, temperature, and the nervous system) (NIDDK, 2010). The production of T3 and T4 is regulated by the release of TSH from the anterior pituitary gland.
Thyroid disorders are classified as hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, tumors, cancer, or goiter.

A patient arrives at a private medical clinic for a scheduled consultation. Upon entry, the medical receptionist instructs the patient to wait in the designated waiting area and hands the patient a registration form to complete. The receptionist verbally reminds the patient to remain seated while waiting for their name to be called.

However, the patient notices the consultation room door slightly open and assumes the doctor is already available. Without confirming with the receptionist, the patient stands up and walks toward the consultation area. At the same time, the clinic hallway floor had just been cleaned, and a “Wet Floor” caution sign was visibly placed near the entrance by the receptionist.

The patient, while looking at their mobile phone, fails to notice the warning sign and slips on the wet floor, sustaining a minor injury.

Is this a Contributory Negligence?

As Typhoon Tino brings continuous rainfall and flooding, nurses are reminding communities to take extra precautions, since prolonged exposure to contaminated floodwater can increase the risk of leptospirosis.
Leptospirosis is a blood infection caused by bacteria of the genus Leptospira that can infect humans, dogs, rodents, and many other wild and domesticated animals. Signs and symptoms can range from none to mild to severe.

‎Last November 4, 2025, Bagyong Tino left a trail of devastation that touched the lives of many, including some of our very own CSAP nursing students. Amid the floods and destruction, they lost not only their homes and belongings, but also their school and duty uniforms, symbols of their hard work, dedication, and dreams to serve.

‎In these trying times, we turn to our CSAP Nursing Alumni, our proud trailblazers and mentors. If you still have your old school or duty uniforms, we humbly ask you to donate or sell them at a minimal cost to help your juniors rise again and continue their journey in the nursing profession.

‎Your simple act of kindness can clothe not just a student, but a future nurse who will one day bring comfort and healing to others.

A neoplastic disorder, Hodgkin disease is characterized by painless, progressive enlargement of the lymph nodes, spleen, and other lymphoid tissue. This enlargement results from proliferation of lymphocytes, histiocytes, eosinophils, and Reed-Sternberg
cells. The latter cells are the special histologic feature of the disease.
Hodgkin disease occurs in all races but is slightly more common in whites. Its incidence peaks in two agegroups—15 to 38 and after age 50. It occurs most commonly in young
adults, except in Japan, where it occurs exclusively among people older than age 50. It has a higher incidence in males than in females. A family history of Hodgkin disease increases the likelihood of acquiring the disorder.
Untreated, Hodgkin disease follows a variable but relentlessly progressive and ultimately fatal course. However, recent advances in therapy make Hodgkin disease potentially curable,
even in advanced stages. Appropriate treatment in the early stage yields a 5-year survival rate of about 90%.
Although the cause of Hodgkin disease is unknown, some studies point to genetic, viral, or environmental factors.
