Highlighting the vital role of civic duty in nation-building, Bukidnon State University Damulog Campus celebrated its 6th NSTP Completion Ceremony on May 13, 2026. Centered on the theme "Upholding the BukSU Legacy: Transforming Communities through Compassionate Civic Welfare Service." Police Captain Marlon C Subrian served as a guest speaker.
The ceremony began with a welcome address from Dr. Albert A. Villanca, Director for Satellite Campuses, which was read by Campus Head Dr. Lovelyn M. Bagares, sending message to the completers to uphold the spirit of volunteerism and resilience.
Hon. Melino Buro, Municipal Mayor of Damulog, delivered a message that underscored education as the primary engine for local development. Mayor Buro emphasized that the completion of the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) is not merely a curriculum requirement but a preparation for lifelong leadership.
Police Captain Marlon C. Subrian shared his own professional journey and personal life experiences, Captain Subrian illustrated the importance of resilience and determination in overcoming the hurdles of student life. He challenged the completers to remain steadfast in their goals and to uphold a lifelong spirit of volunteerism, proactively seeking ways to improve their respective communities.
The NSTP completers was presented by Bernel S. Gabut, MAEd, LPT, and their official confirmation by Dr. Bagares. Students were then awarded their certificates and awards by the BukSU Damulog faculty, symbolizing their readiness to engage in larger civic duties.
The program also featured the message of the NSTP Director, Mr. Albert A. Celebran, which was read by Sir Neil Ryan D. Baquiler, alongside closing remarks from Mr. Gabut, emphasizing the long-term impact of their service. The program concluded with the singing of NSTP completers batch song and the singing of the BukSU Hymn, reinforcing the university's legacy of compassionate service.

In a proactive effort to align local environmental initiatives with national mandates, Bukidnon State University-Damulog Campus hosted an NSTP Symposium titled "Bayanihan para sa Kalikasan: Harmonizing RA 9418 and the National Greening Program" on March 31, 2026. The event gathered students, faculty, and environmental experts to discuss the vital intersection of volunteerism and ecological sustainability.
The morning session commenced with a welcome address from Lovelyn M. Bagares, DM, the Campus Head, who emphasized the role of the youth in nation-building through environmental stewardship. This was followed by a keynote address from PLT Samuel C Polo and PCPL Christine Claite Duran, who served as the guest speakers for the morning session. The speakers expertise offered students a practical look at how structured volunteerism can lead to measurable environmental impacts, bridging the gap between legislative theory and community-based application.
In the afternoon session, the symposium transitioned into practical applications and policy discussions. Leonard Mabalos, MAEd from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) led the afternoon lecture, providing localized context to the National Greening Program. The academic discussion was immediately followed by a hands-on Tree Growing Activity, where students, faculty, and staff collaborated to plant saplings, turning the symposiumโs theoretical themes into tangible environmental action.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Bernel S. In a meaningful display of "Bayanihan" and environmental stewardship, students from the National Service Training Program (NSTP) of Bukidnon State University-Damulog Campus joined forces with local officials for the "BIDA sa Kalikasan" Clean-Up Drive held last January 30, 2026.
The initiative, organized by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) and the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), was part of the townโs month-long celebration of National Zero-Waste Month.

armed with brooms, sacks, and a shared mission. The clean-up drive targeted two primary locations critical to the town's sanitation: the BukSU School Campus and the Local Market Site.
For the NSTP students, the event served as a practical application of their civic welfare training. Beyond the physical labor of clearing debris and segregating plastic waste, the activity was not just a local effort but part of a larger monitoring program.
The "BIDA sa Kalikasan" drive serves as a reminder that as January comes to a close, the "Zero-Waste" lifestyle is a year-round responsibility for every citizen of Damulog.

In a unified effort to promote environmental sustainability and youth engagement, the Bukidnon State University (BukSU) DamulogโNational Service Training Program (NSTP) successfully conducted a Tree Growing Activity at the Municipal Landfill in Narugaran, Pocopoco, Bukidnon.
Leonard Mabalos, Officer-in-Charge of MENRO and LYDC Designate, highlighted the significance of environmental stewardship in his address during the event. He also encouraged participants to view the activity as part of a long-term mission to combat climate change and ensure a greener future for the next generation.

Reinforcing the spirit of volunteerism among the students, Bukidnon State University โ Damulog Campus successfully conducted the NSTP Symposium last March 26, 2025 on Republic Act 9418, also known as the Volunteer Act of 2007, with the theme โRA 9418: Empowering Volunteerism for Nation-Building and Social Change.โ
The highlight of the program was the inspiring talk delivered by Bryan Brech Duran, LPT, DE, Municipal Tourism Officer, who emphasized the vital role of volunteerism in shaping responsible and proactive citizens. His message underscored how volunteer initiatives contribute not only to community development but also to personal growth and leadership.
An open forum followed, allowing students to engage with the speaker, ask questions, and share their thoughts on volunteer service. The event concluded with the awarding of the speaker by the BukSU Damulog faculty and staff, and closing remarks from Bernel S. Gabut, LPT, NSTP Component Head.
The symposium is part of BukSU Damulog Campusโ continued efforts to instill social responsibility, patriotism, and active civic engagement among its NSTP students.

The office of National Services Training Program headed by Bernel S. Gabut, NSTP Coordinator of BukSU Damulog Campus conducted an engaging orientation session held at BukSU Damulog Covered Court, on January 16, 2025. Students were introduced to the National Service Training Program (NSTP) and its significance in shaping responsible and community-oriented citizens. The session detailed the program's legal basis, components, and essential guidelines to help students prepare for their active participation.
The orientation began with a discussion on the legal foundation of NSTP, rooted in Republic Act No. 9163 or the "National Service Training Program Act of 2001." This law mandates tertiary-level students to undergo training programs aimed at enhancing civic consciousness and defense preparedness, emphasizing the role of the youth in nation-building. NSTP comprises three key components: the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), and the Literacy Training Service (LTS).
A particular focus was given to CWTS, which centers on activities that contribute to the general welfare and betterment of the community, such as health education, disaster response, and environmental conservation. Students were also briefed about school immersion. The session further outlined the variety of activities under the office NSTP, including seminars, tree planting activity, and completion ceremony.
Students were reminded of the rules and regulations during sessions, emphasizing punctuality, active participation, and proper decorum. The importance of wearing the prescribed uniform during activities was stressed as a symbol of discipline and unity.
The orientation gave the students with a clear understanding of the program's objectives and principles. Students left the orientation motivated to embrace their responsibilities under NSTP and contribute meaningfully to society.

In a collaborative effort to promote environmental conservation and community involvement, Bukidnon State University (BukSU) Damulog, together with the Local Youth Development Council, successfully conducted the "Bida sa Kalikasan: Damulog River Clean-up Drive and Bamboo Planting" event. The activity took place along the riverside of the Damulog River in Damulog, Bukidnon.
The event, held on October 16, 2024, brought together students, teachers, and LYDC members, all sharing a common goal: to protect and preserve the natural environment of the Damulog River. The initiative aimed not only to clean up the river but also to enhance its ecological balance through the strategic planting of bamboo along its banks.
BukSU Damulog Campus emphasized the importance of community engagement in sustaining these efforts and underscored the role of bamboo in preventing soil erosion and improving water quality.
