Good day, future problem-solvers of CFCST!
I know exactly how you feel right now. Your hands are sweating, your heart is racing, and youβve probably reviewed the Quadratic Formula five times this morning β even though this is just an interview.
Take a deep breath. That nervousness is not weakness. It means you care. And in the Math Society, caring is the first formula for belonging.* We are not looking for geniuses today. We are looking for people brave enough to try.
This interview is not a test β itβs a conversation.
We wonβt ask you to solve Calculus on the spot. Weβll ask, βWhy do you want to join?β And the best answer isnβt βTo enhance my skills.β The best answer is the honest one: βBecause I want to find people who wonβt laugh when I get it wrong. I want a place where Math feels like home.β
The seniors interviewing you? They were once in your seat. Our president forgot the Pythagorean Theorem during his interview and still got in. Why? Because he said, βI forgot it today, but Iβll learn it tomorrow β and teach it to someone else after.β Thatβs the attitude we need. Courage over correctness.
In Math Society, mistakes are not shame β they are currency.
Here at CFCST, we know maratabat. One failure can feel like youβve let your family down. But in this room, your dignity is not based on your score.Itβs based on your willingness to stand up again after a wrong answer. We donβt cancel members for mistakes. We coach them until they get it.Because the real equation we live by is: Mistake + Help = Growth.
You are not joining a club β you are joining a support system.
Math can feel lonely. But here, youβll never solve alone. Struggling with Algebra? Someone will stay after class with you. Failed a quiz? Weβll remind you that one quiz doesnβt define you. Your "karamay" in numbers is here. We grow together, because nobody becomes a mathematician by themselves.
So as you step into that interview room in a few minutes, remember this:
You already passed the hardest part β you showed up.
Speak from your heart, not from a script. If youβre nervous, say it. If you donβt know the answer, admit it. *We value honesty over perfection.
Because the biggest problem the CFCST Math Society wants to solve isnβt found in any textbook. Itβs this: "How do we make Math feel like family?β
