VALIDATION OF POTENTIAL SOCIAL PENSION BENEFICIARIES

The Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Officer (OCSWDO), through its Special Social Services Section (SSSS), conducted the validation of potential beneficiaries for the Social Pension Program in various barangays of Cotabato City.

The validation activities were conducted in Barangay Kalanganan 1, Rosary Heights 3, Rosary Heights 7, Rosary Heights 8, Poblacion 3, and Poblacion 4, as part of the office’s continuing efforts to identify and validate qualified senior citizens who may benefit from the Social Pension Program.

Through this initiative, the OCSWDO continues to ensure that eligible senior citizens are properly assessed and given access to appropriate social protection services and assistance.

September 5–6, 2026 | Values Formation and Life Coaching Session for Children at Risk

The Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Officer (OCSWDO) through its Child Welfare Section successfully conducted the Values Formation and Life Coaching Session for Children at Risk held at El Commedor Restaurant, Cotabato City.

The two-day activity focused on values formation, personal development, life coaching, self-awareness, responsible decision-making, and goal-setting, providing selected children with a safe and supportive space for reflection, sharing, and personal growth. Through interactive discussions and reflection activities, the participants were encouraged to understand their experiences, recognize their strengths, take responsibility for their choices, develop positive attitudes, and set meaningful goals for their future.

More than a learning activity, the session provided an opportunity to listen to, engage with, and empower children at risk, while reinforcing the importance of positive guidance, supportive relationships, and child-sensitive interventions in helping children navigate challenges. Every child deserves the opportunity to be heard, supported, guided, and empowered to reach their potential.

The Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Officer (OCSWDO), through its Child Welfare Section successfully conducted a 2-Day Capability Training for the 37 Street Educators of Cotabato City.

The activity aimed to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and overall well-being of our dedicated Street Educators who work closely with children in vulnerable situations.

Day 1 | Seminar on Child Protection Protocols
The first day focused on strengthening the Street Educators’ knowledge on child rights, recognizing child protection concerns, appropriate response, documentation, reporting, and referral, facilitated by the trained Social Workers of the Child Welfare Section.

Day 2 | Stress Debriefing: Mental Wellness and Work-Life Harmony The second day provided a safe space for our Street Educators to reflect on their field experiences, process work-related stress, learn healthy coping strategies, and promote mental wellness and balance. The session was facilitated by Mark Jhon Lennon B. Uy, Developmental Interventionist.

Two days of learning, reflection, and strengthening our commitment to protecting children while also caring for those who serve them. 🤍✨

Ang naturang aktibidad ay inorganisa ng Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Officer (OCSWDO) sa pamamagitan ng Family and Community Welfare Section (FCWS) na pinangungunahan nina City Social Welfare and Development Officer Cheribin Mena K. Viloria, RSW, MTSW, at OIC-FCWS Head Jumannah A. Tan, RSW, MPA.

Bitbit ang temang "Matatag na Pamilyang Bangsamoro, Para sa Lahat!", layunin ng programa na mapalakas ang kakayahan ng mga magulang at substitute parents sa tamang pagpapalaki, paggabay, at pagprotekta sa kanilang mga anak.

Ayon sa OCSWDO, ang graduation ceremony ay hindi lamang pagkilala sa pagtatapos ng mga kalahok sa pagsasanay, kundi pagpapatibay din sa patuloy na komitment ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Cotabato sa pagsuporta sa pamilya at pagtataguyod ng kapakanan ng mga kabataan.

The Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Officer (OCSWDO), through the Crisis Intervention and Disaster Relief Operation Section, continues to extend assistance and support to a returning Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who was successfully repatriated from the United Arab Emirates and is currently receiving medical care at the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC).
Following the client’s safe return to the Philippines, the office sustained its case management and coordination efforts to ensure the continuity of the client’s medical and social welfare needs.

This initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts and partnership of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), CRMC Social Welfare Service, and the CRMC Palliative and Hospice Care Unit. The continued inter-agency collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment to providing compassionate, responsive, and coordinated support to returning OFWs in vulnerable circumstances, ensuring that their needs are addressed throughout their medical care and transition back to their families and community.

The Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Officer (OCSWDO), through its Crisis Intervention and Disaster Relief Operation (CIDRO), in partnership with the DSWD Field Office XII, successfully assisted one of our Pag-Abot Program clients in starting her own small business.

With the support and guidance provided by the assigned social worker, the client was able to take a meaningful step toward transitioning from life on the streets to managing her own source of income. This milestone represents an important step toward achieving greater stability, self-reliance, and improved quality of life.

The OCSWDO remains committed to providing sustainable support, opportunities, and interventions that empower individuals to rebuild their lives and move toward a more secure and independent future.
