Pursuant to the LGU Vigan City directive/ announcement suspending classes at all levels in both public and private schools in Vigan City due to the continuous heavy rainfall brought about by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), the School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRM) Team conducted an inspection of the school premises to assess the safety and current condition of school facilities, drainage systems, and surrounding areas.

𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐒

As of the time of inspection, the school remains generally safe and in good condition. No flooding, structural damage, or significant deterioration of school buildings and facilities was observed despite the continuous heavy rainfall.

However, clogging was noted in some waterways and drainage areas due to the heavy downpour, which may affect the proper flow of rainwater if left unattended. The affected areas were monitored and assessed by the SDRRM Team, with appropriate clearing and preventive measures recommended to ensure unobstructed drainage and minimize the risk of water accumulation.

Classrooms, school buildings, and other essential areas were inspected and found to be generally safe, intact, and free from significant damage at the time of inspection.

𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓

NO SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OBSERVED. SCHOOL PREMISES REMAIN SAFE AND GENERALLY IN GOOD CONDITION. CONTINUOUS MONITORING OF DRAINAGE AND WATERWAYS IS RECOMMENDED.

𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓

PURSUANT TO MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 129 OF THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT, SERIES OF 2026, the City Government of Vigan will implement a skeleton workforce and Work-From-Home (WFH) arrangement on August 19, 2026.

Likewise, classes at all levels in both public and private educational institutions in the City of Vigan shall shift to Alternative Learning Modalities (ALM) in lieu of in-person classes.

Please be guided accordingly.

Maligayang Buwan ng ASEAN!

Kaisa ang Paaralang Burgos Memorial West sa pagtataguyod ng pagkakaisa, kapayapaan, at kaunlaran sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng ASEAN ngayong Agosto.

Ngayong 2026, buong karangalang pinamumunuan ng Pilipinas ang ASEAN bitbit ang temang "Navigating our Future, Together". Sa mahalagang okasyong ito, kinikilala ng Kagawaran ng Edukasyon ang malaking ambag ng ASEAN sa pagpapalakas ng edukasyon sa rehiyon.

Sama-sama nating hubugin ang isang mas maliwanag at matatag na kinabukasan para sa kabataang Pilipino at sa buong Timog-Silangang Asya!

NASA BALITA | 𝗠𝗴𝗮 𝗮𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴-𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗠𝗦𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁, 𝗸𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗸𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝘀𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼

Dalawang batang atletang pang-aquatics mula sa Burgos Memorial School West ang matagumpay na na-kuwalipika upang lumahok sa Philippine Aquatics, Inc. National Championships matapos magpakitang-gilas sa qualifying competition na ginanap sa New Clark City Aquatics Center sa Capas, Tarlac noong Agosto 15–16, 2026.

Si Jenicka Soria ng Grade 6–Ruby, isang batikang manlalangoy ng BMSWest, ay nagpakitang-gilas sa paligsahan matapos magwagi sa lima sa anim na qualifying events na kanyang sinalihan. Ipinamalas niya ang kanyang husay, determinasyon, at dedikasyon sa larangan ng paglangoy.

Samantala, si Ramyer Shann V. Del Rosario ng Grade 4–Darwin ay matagumpay ding na-kuwalipika para sa pambansang paligsahan matapos magwagi sa ilang events sa kanyang kategorya at magtala ng kahanga-hangang pagganap.

Dahil sa kanilang tagumpay, magkakaroon ng pagkakataon sina Jenicka at Ramyer Shann na katawanin ang kanilang koponan at ipakita ang kanilang husay sa pambansang entablado.

Buong pagmamalaking binabati ng pamilyang BMSWest ang ating dalawang batang kampeon. Nawa'y patuloy ninyong pag-ibayuhin ang inyong pagsasanay at dalhin ang dangal at pagmamalaki ng BMSWest sa bawat kumpetisyong inyong sasalihan.

𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓

Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 128 dated August 17, 2026 issued by the Office of the President, and due to the continuous heavy rainfall brought by the Southwest Monsoon, all public and private schools at all levels in Vigan City shall implement Alternative Learning Modalities (ALM) in lieu of in-person classes on August 18, 2026, prioritizing the safety of learners and school personnel.

The City Government of Vigan shall implement an alternative work arrangement, with essential and frontline offices operating on a skeleton workforce to ensure the continuous delivery of public services.

Everyone is advised to monitor official weather advisories and observe necessary safety precautions.

𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒| 𝐕𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Charles Andrei Vivit, a Grade 6–Ruby learner of Burgos Memorial School West, successfully qualified for the Batang Pinoy 2026 National Championships in the sport of Badminton.

Vivit earned his spot after participating in the qualifying tryouts held at Quirino Stadium on August 16, 2026, sponsored by One Ilocos Sur. His qualification earned him the opportunity to represent Ilocos Sur on the national stage.

The young BMSWest badminton athlete is set to compete in the Batang Pinoy 2026 National Championships, scheduled for December 12–18, 2026, in Bacolod City.

Congratulations, Charles Andrei! May you continue to train hard, play with determination, and bring pride to BMSWest and Ilocos Sur as you compete on the national stage. The BMSWest community proudly congratulates you on this remarkable achievement.

Pursuant to Executive Order No. 25, Series of 2026, titled “An Order Suspending Classes in All Levels in Public and Private Schools and Work in Public Offices in the Province of Ilocos Sur on 10 August 2026, Due to Torrential Rainfall Brought About by the Enhanced Southwest Monsoon,” the School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Team conducted an inspection of the school premises to assess the safety and current condition of school facilities and surrounding areas.

STATUS
As of the time of inspection, Burgos Memorial School West remains in good and stable condition. No flooding, structural damage, or significant deterioration of school facilities was observed. Classrooms, buildings, and other school areas were inspected and found to be generally safe and intact.

The School DRRM Team continues to monitor the condition of the school premises and remains vigilant for any possible effects of the ongoing weather disturbance. Any significant changes, hazards, or damages that may arise will be immediately assessed, documented, and reported to the appropriate authorities.

Overall Assessment: NO SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE / SCHOOL PREMISES SAFE AND IN GOOD CONDITION
