Last August 14, the Araling Panlipunan Club joined fellow students, teachers, and administrators for the Holy Eucharistic Celebration: a meaningful opportunity to pause, give praise, and express our deep gratitude for the continuous blessings upon our school.

“Ang kalinisan ay ating proteksyon; ang kamalayan ay ating sandata.”

sa ating ika-22 araw ng clean-up drive, ipinapaalala ng AP club na ang pagpapanatili ng malinis na kapaligiran ay ang ating pangunahing hakbang upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng dengue.

Sa pamamagitan ng ating patuloy na paglilinis sa ating paaralan, tumutulong tayong alisin ang mga lugar na maaaring pamahayan ng mga lamok, lalo na ang mga lalagyan na naiipunan ng nakatambak na tubig.

Sama-sama nating linisin ang ating paaralan. Sa simpleng pagiging responsable at pagiging alerto sa mga sintomas ng dengue, malaki ang ating maiaambag sa pagprotekta sa ating sarili at buong ISNHS community. 🫶✨

Unity in Diversity: The Philippines and the Vision of ASEAN

Every August, Southeast Asia observes ASEAN Month to commemorate the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Established on August 8, 1967, through the Bangkok Declaration, the regional bloc was created to foster peace, economic growth, and cultural cooperation among its member states.

The Philippines played a crucial role as one of the original five founding members. Represented by Secretary of Foreign Affairs Narciso Ramos, the Philippines helped navigate tense diplomatic waters during the height of the Cold War. Alongside leaders from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, the Philippines advocated for a non-confrontational, consensus-based approach to regional stability, laying the groundwork for what is known today as the "ASEAN Way". Through strategic mediation, the country helped unite diverse Southeast Asian nations into a cohesive regional community.

Carrying forward this rich diplomatic legacy, the Philippines serves as the ASEAN Chair this 2026 with the official theme: "Navigating Our Future, Together". This theme emphasizes regional unity, economic resilience, and inclusive, people-centered innovation as member states work together toward a shared, sustainable future.

“They say it takes 21 days to build a habit. Today, environmental stewardship became second nature.”

Marking 21 sessions of sustained service! The AP Club closed out the school week with another successful campus cleanup this Friday, August 14. What began as an initiative has officially evolved into a daily standard of discipline, pride, and care for our shared grounds.
Working side by side, our officers gathered waste and restored order across campus, ensuring our school remains a clean, safe, and welcoming space.

Reaching Day 21 proves that when commitment is sustained, responsibility becomes culture. Thank you to everyone who consistently shows up to keep our campus green and beautiful! 🤝✨

Reaching 20 sessions of service! On August 12, the AP Club mobilized once again to uphold environmental stewardship across our campus. Cleanliness begins with individual mindfulness, but its true impact relies on the collective responsibility of our entire school community.

Through unified action, our officers worked hand-in-hand to maintain a clean, orderly, and uplifting learning environment. Let us continue to carry this sense of duty in our daily student lives, proving that a disciplined campus stands as a reflection of a united student body. 🤝✨

KILALANIN, IGALANG, AT ISULONG: Ang Susi sa Pambansang Pagkakakilanlan at Karapatan ng mga Katutubong Pilipino

Ang kasaysayan ng Pilipinas ay hindi lamang binubuo ng mga nakasulat sa mga aklat ng kasaysayan; ito ay buhay na umiiral sa kultura, wika, at tradisyon ng mahigit 110 ethnolinguistic groups sa ating bansa. Tuwing Agosto 9, ipinagdiriwang natin ang National Indigenous Peoples Day alinsunod sa Republic Act No. 10689, kasabay ng pandaigdigang pagkilala ng United Nations sa mga katutubong pamayanan. Isa itong mahalagang paalala na ang ating mga katutubong kapatid—mula sa mga Igorot ng Cordillera, mga Mangyan ng Mindoro, mga Aeta at Ati, hanggang sa mga Lumad ng Mindanao—ang tunay na tagapangalaga ng ating pambansang kaluluwa at ng ating mga likas na yaman.

Sa kabila ng mayamang pamanang ito, nananatiling hamon para sa maraming katutubo ang diskriminasyon at ang banta sa kanilang mga lupaing ninuno. Dito nagiging kritikal ang papel ng Indigenous Peoples’ Rights Act of 1997 (IPRA Law/RA 8371). Sa pamamagitan ng batas na ito at sa pangunguna ng National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), sinisiguro ang apat na pangunahing haligi ng kanilang karapatan: ang pagmamay-ari sa lupaing ninuno (ancestral domain), ang sariling pamamahala at pagpapasya (self-governance) sa tulong ng free, prior, and informed consent, ang katarungang panlipunan, at ang integridad ng katutubong kultura.

Bilang mga mag-aaral at kasapi ng Araling Panlipunan Club, tungkulin nating palalimin ang ating pag-unawa sa kasaysayan at kasalukuyang kalagayan ng ating mga katutubo. Ang paggalang sa kanilang karapatan ay hindi lamang usapin ng kawanggawa, kundi usapin ng katarungan at pagkilala sa ating sariling pagkakakilanlan bilang mga Pilipino. Hukayin natin ang nakaraan, unawain ang kasalukuyan, at magkasama tayong makibaka para sa isang lipunang may pagkakapantay-pantay at paggalang sa bawat boses ng ating lahi.

“Cleanliness is humanity in practice—a silent expression of care for those who share our space.”

On our nineteenth day of service, the AP Club highlights the deeper purpose behind our daily drive: compassion through action. Maintaining a clean campus is not merely an aesthetic duty; it is an act of malasakit that respects our utility personnel, honors our teachers, and protects the well-being of every student.

When we take responsibility for our waste, we affirm that every member of the ISNHS community deserves a safe, dignified, and uplifting environment to learn and grow.

ISANG BANSA, ISANG WIKANG PAMBANSA: Ang Kasaysayan sa Likod ng Ating Pagkakakilanlan

Naitanong mo na ba sa iyong sarili kung paano natin nauunawaan ang isa’t isa mula Batanes hanggang Tawi-Tawi? 🤔

Bago natin tinawag na Filipino ang ating wikang pambansa, dumaan muna ito sa mahabang proseso ng pagsusuri at talakayan. Noong 1936, binuo ang Surian ng Wikang Pambansa upang pumili sa walong (8) pangunahing wika sa bansa: Tagalog, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Waray, Bikol, Ilokano, Pangasinense, at Kapampangan.

🔍 Bakit nga ba Tagalog ang napili?
Hindi ito batay lamang sa kagustuhan ng iilan. Isinaalang-alang ang mayamang literatura nito, ang pagiging sentro ng kalakalan ng Maynila, at ang kadalian nitong matutuhan at maunawaan ng nakararaming Pilipino. Kaya naman noong Disyembre 30, 1937, sa ilalim ng probisyon ng 1935 Konstitusyon at sa pangunguna ni Pangulong Manuel L. Quezon, pormal na idineklara ang Tagalog bilang batayan ng ating wikang pambansa.

Sa paglipas ng panahon, ang wikang ito ay lumago at naging Pilipino noong 1959, hanggang sa pormal na naging Filipino sa ilalim ng 1987 Saligang Batas. Ang Filipino ay hindi lamang purong Tagalog—ito ay isang dinamikong wika na patuloy na pinayayaman at pinapalawak sa tulong ng mga salita at impluwensya mula sa iba't ibang rehiyonal na wika sa ating bansa!

✨ Ang ating wikang pambansa ay patunay na sa kabila ng ating pagkakaiba-iba sa pulo at kultura, may isang wikang nag-uugnay sa ating pusong Pilipino.
