More areas in Mindanao under Signal No. 1 as intensifies
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Tropical Depression Auring has slightly intensified, state weather bureau PAGASA said on Saturday.
In its 5 p.m. report, the weather bureau said Auring was last located 185 km east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur at 4 p.m. Saturday, carrying maximum winds of up to 55 kph and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
It is moving west northwest at 7 kph.
PAGASA raised Signal No. 1 in Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Island Province, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Davao del Norte, and Compostela Valley — where residents can expect 30-60 kph winds in the next 36 hours.
Moderate to occasionally heavy rains are expected in Caraga, Leyte provinces, Northern Mindanao, Central Visayas, Negros Provinces, and Palawan.
Tropical Depression Auring is expected to make landfall over Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur between Sunday evening and Monday morning.
It is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday.
