As Always, the Tides Have Shifted

Each new academic year brings another wave of new and returning students into the UP Cebu Fine Arts, each carving a path toward a life in art or design. Along that path are artists, designers, and educators who do more than teach creativity. They continue to practice it.

As Always, the Tides Have Shifted, the annual UP Cebu Fine Arts Faculty Exhibition, gathers the creative work of the people tasked with guiding this next generation. The exhibition affirms a simple but important idea, we teach through what we continue to practice, question, make, and reimagine. It celebrates art and design not only as expressions of the self, but as ways of engaging memory, culture, community, and a world that refuses to remain still.

We warmly invite everyone to join us for the opening on August 10, 2026, at 5:30 PM at the Jose T. Joya Gallery, UP Cebu.

Come see what the people who teach creativity have been creating themselves.

CCAD proudly supports and celebrates the participation of its faculty and alumni in LATAG: The Unfolding of Visayan Abstraction, a major group exhibition opening on July 31, 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Qube Gallery. Curated by Professor Dennis E. Montera, PhD, the exhibition brings together prominent and emerging abstract artists from the Visayas and Manila, in a dialogue that explores the evolving landscape of contemporary Philippine abstraction.

Derived from the Cebuano and Tagalog word latag, meaning "to lay out," "unfold," or "reveal," the exhibition frames abstraction as an ongoing process of discovery rather than a search for fixed meanings. Through paintings and material explorations, the exhibition invites viewers to encounter ideas, memories, and lived experiences that gradually emerge through texture, gesture, rhythm, and form.

That's a wrap! ✨

Huge thanks to everyone who came out for Dominic Fulache's Public Wheatpasting Workshop! From first-timers to seasoned creatives, you helped turn a shared space into a canvas for collaboration, conversation, and expression.

What started as paper and paste became an afternoon of making, learning, and meeting new people through art. Thank you for bringing your energy, ideas, and willingness to create together.

Presented in partial fulfillment of SFA 188: Arts Management under the UP Cebu Fine Arts Studio Arts Program.

Until the next wall. 🎨πŸͺ£πŸ“„
