The ARAL Program of the Department of Education is a special learning support program designed to help students who are struggling in basic subjects such as reading, mathematics, and science.
“ARAL” stands for learning support that focuses on helping learners catch up after experiencing learning gaps, especially those caused by interruptions in schooling and difficulties during previous school years.
Instead of adding pressure to students, the program is meant to give them extra time, guidance, and encouragement so they can improve at their own pace. Teachers, volunteer tutors, and schools work together to make learning easier, more enjoyable, and more understandable for students who need additional help.
The ARAL Program is DepEd’s way of saying,
“No learner should be left behind.”
It gives students another chance to strengthen their skills, build confidence, and enjoy learning again through remediation classes, reading activities, tutorials, and supportive teaching.
The program usually happens during:
Summer or break periods
After-class interventions
Special tutorial sessions
Reading and numeracy activities
Its main goals are:
Improve reading and comprehension
Strengthen numeracy and critical thinking
Help students recover learning losses
Build learner confidence and participation
For many learners, the ARAL Program is not just about academics—it is also about feeling supported, cared for, and motivated to continue studying.
