🔥 | USC-SHS student triumphs in Philippine Linguistics Olympiad, set to compete in IOL

Niño Acem Michael R. Gella of STEM 11 - S&T secured the gold in the Philippine Linguistics Olympiad held at Mapua University, Intramuros, last March 15, 2025, securing his spot in the International Linguistics Olympiad (IOL).

He is set to compete in the IOL this year as part of the 3rd team to represent the Philippines.

Congratulations, Acem. Continue to showcase the Carolinian Spirit. Good luck!🔰

🔥 | SHS Carolinians seize gold in CESAFI Computer Quiz Bowl 2025

Last March 26, 2025, USC-SHS snagged yet another victory with Dominic John S. Yap of STEM 11 - S&T and Lance Victor F. Buyser of STEM 11 - O’s first place in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Computer Quiz Bowl 2025 High School Division held at the Cebu Institute of Technology University (CIT-U).

Coached by Ms. Ana Liza Tabanao, Dominic and Lance received a certificate of recognition and a championship medal.

Danish schools teach empathy as a dedicated subject, known as “Klassen Tid” (Class Time), from ages 6 to 16. During these lessons, students discuss their emotions, personal struggles, and group dynamics in a safe and supportive environment. Teachers guide the conversations, helping students develop emotional intelligence, active listening skills, and conflict resolution strategies.

The goal is to foster cooperation, understanding, and social harmony—values deeply ingrained in Danish culture. Research suggests that teaching empathy can lead to higher emotional resilience, stronger relationships, and even improved academic performance.

If more countries implemented similar programs, it could cultivate more compassionate societies, equipping children with the emotional tools to navigate life with kindness and understanding.
