Kobanashi are short jokes that performers tell to warm up the audience before launching the main story of Rakugo, a traditional Japanese performing art of storytelling.
Let us all learn together on how we can integrate teamwork, peer learning, independent learning, and Intercultural Communicative Competence (ICC) in our Nihongo class with Kobanashi!

[CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT]
The Japanese Language Society of Malaysia (JLSM) will be holding the 2025 JLfest Kobanashi Competition!
Participants will select one of the 5 given Kobanashi, and make a video of their performance within 1 minute.
We encourage Nihongo teachers and learners from all over the Philippines to join this exciting event!

NIHONGOJIN no MINASAN, LET’S CONNECT HEARTS THROUGH HUMOR!

For the first time, Nihongo Fiesta 2025 will host the 2nd Philippine Kobanashi Festival alongside the 52nd Speech Contest, creating a more diverse and exciting program. 🎉

The Japan Foundation, Manila in collaboration with the Association of Nihongo Teachers in the Visayas (ANT-V) is now accepting entries for the 2nd Philippine Kobanashi Festival open to all Nihongo learners and students, from anywhere in the Philippines. Perform your kobanashi on stage, and let’s laugh together!

Selected participants will be invited to perform their kobanashi on stage at the 2025 Nihongo Fiesta on 22 February 2025 (Saturday) at Red Carpet Cinema, Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong City. Special tokens and certificates await our talented performers!
