History told that during the 17th century at the Southeastern part of Labangon there was a big house erected by the Spanish Friars, roofed with Tisa ceramics.
The so-called Spanish Convento was situated at the heart of unknown sitio covering 5,100 sq. meters area donated by a devoted Christian family. In 1932, with the help of prominent families, a school was built on the very spot of the "Big Tisa House" or Convento of which the name Tisa became the historical landmark of the place, the birth of Tisa I Elementary School. A night high school in Tisa was
once a far-fetched dream to Tisan-ons; a hazy vision obscured by the mists of impossibilities. It was nothing more than a mere figment of the Tisan-ons imagination, flimsy and always ready to dissolve into nothingness. However, little did they know that their dreams would soon materialize into solid reality. It was on June 2003 that Tisa Night High School was implemented under the sponsorship of City Mayor Tomas R. OsmeƱa. It is located in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City, and housed in Tisa I E S. It is adjacent to Tisa Barangay Hall which is along the highway and very much accessible to students. The school now in its 6th year of operation has 620 students with 16 teachers consisting of 2 full-time regular, 12 full-time and 2 part-time contractual teachers. These teachers possess the basic knowledge, skills, proper attitude and right values, and technology to enhance the students' capabilities and potentials to make them function as productive, functionally literate, nationalistic citizens and God-loving individuals.
