#6 When a Wish Becomes a Burning Desire | Chapter 2: Desire

Why do some thoughts fade away while others begin to shape a person’s life?

In Chapter 2 of Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill explains that thought alone is not enough. It must be supported by a definite desire.

Through Edwin C. Barnes, we see the difference between wishing for something and choosing a clear purpose. Barnes did not become Thomas Edison’s business associate immediately. He worked, waited, and prepared for years.

#0 Uncovering the Secret Hidden in Think and Grow Rich

I first read Think and Grow Rich in June 2015, but many of its lessons faded with time.

Now, I am returning to this book with different eyes — as a mother, as a woman who has waited, and as someone still becoming.

In this first entry, I reflect on the Author’s Preface, where Napoleon Hill says the secret in the book “has not been directly named” but is left in sight for those who are “ready and searching for it.”

This is the beginning of my reading journal — not just to summarize the book, but to uncover the hidden lesson in every story.

Dear Luna,

You came too soon.

I was not ready.
My heart was not ready.
My body was not ready.
But God held us through every day I thought I could not survive.

You were born at 27 weeks, and for a while, I carried fear, guilt, and questions I could not say out loud.

But over time, God taught me something I hope other mothers hear too:

Premature birth is not always the mother’s fault.

Some babies come earlier than expected.
Some stories begin in the NICU.
But that does not mean the story is without purpose.

This is our story, Luna.
A story of fear, faith, waiting, and God’s mercy.

And to the preemie mom who finds this video:
You are not alone.
