that last week the Government of 🇨🇦 strengthened protections for all interns in federally regulated workplaces? Are you familiar with the final regulations?

If you exercise your rights under Part III of the Canada Labour Code, your employer is NOT permitted to:

* end the internship
* suspend
* layoff
*demote
*give financial or other penalties
*refuse to provide training or promotion
*take any other disciplinary actions, or
*threaten to take any such action because you:
🔆make a complaint to the Labour Program
🔆provide information or assistance to an inspector
🔆provide information to an adjudicator or a member of the Canada Industrial Relations Board
🔆testify in a proceeding or inquiry related to labour standards issues
🔆become pregnant, or
🔆exercise any leave of absence or any other labour standards protection that applies to student interns

In a news release issued recently, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) said that it will help international students by implementing the following measures:
𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐬
Canada now provides priority study-permit processing for students who have submitted a complete application online, to ensure that permits are processed as quickly as possible.
𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭-𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲
Canada now allows students to count the time spent pursuing their studies online abroad toward their eligibility for a post-graduation work permit.
𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐥
Canada will implement a new approval system that provides reassurances to international students who cannot submit all of the documentation needed to complete processing of their applications.
Now, that's what we call good news!
