Happy World Scout Scarf Day!
All active and former scouts are invited to wear their scout scarfs and neckerchiefs to make the spirit and discipline of scouting visible every year during the 1st day of the month of August.
Since 2007, Scout organizations from all across the world have worked together to develop this scout-friendly holiday. It promotes the wearing of scarves with pride as a representation of the Scout's promise and the Scouting spirit by both current and retired scouts. The Scout promise is about living by Scout law, which includes being dependable, trustworthy, kind to others, and obedient to authority. The occasion's date honors the foundation of the first scout troop ever, which met in 1907 on Brownsea Island.
