What is Mooting?
Mooting is a simulated court hearing where students argue legal issues before a judge. It’s a chance to practice and develop essential legal skills like public speaking, legal research, and critical thinking in a realistic setting.

*Mooter Rhanlee Abao Among Students Chosen to Welcome PH Ambassador to Holy See*

On May 6, 2024, Her Excellency Grace Relucio Princesa, the Philippine Ambassador to the Holy See, visited the University of Cebu-Banilad campus. Notably, Vox Legis mooter Rhanlee Abao was among the students chosen to welcome her Excellency.

During her visit, Nanay Amba gave an inspiring talk emphasizing the importance of understanding the essence of being Filipino. She shared her extensive diplomatic experience, including her role as the first Filipina ambassador to the UAE and the Holy See, along with captivating stories from her remarkable career.

*Environmental Mooting Oralists Shine Alongside Classmates at IDLO's Gender and Climate Conference*

Influenced by Vox Legis Coach Kristine Joy Argallon's spirit of volunteerism, our environmental mooting oralists Eurica Carreon and Keilla Choi, alongside law student volunteers Jerelou Mag-aso, Abigael Seville, Mary Joan Palatino, Diane Gimenez, Elliz Florez, Debie Bolhano and Joel Salaum, lent their support at the recent International Development Law Organization (IDLO) conference.

Thanks to the collaboration facilitated by Atty. Myrfi Gonzalez, Field Program Coordinator of IDLO and former UC School of Law professor on the Law on Human Rights, our students had the opportunity to contribute to this significant event.

Associate Justice Filomena Singh of the Supreme Court delivered a compelling keynote address, highlighting the indispensable role of women in environmental sustainability.

Hosted over three days, the "Advancing Women’s and Girls’ Climate Action through Rule of Law Multistakeholder Conference" brought together esteemed organizations including the Philippine Commission on Women, Philippine Climate Change Commission, Philippine Earth Justice Center, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

The conference served as a dynamic platform for dialogue and collaboration, fostering a deeper understanding of the intersection between gender equality, environmental justice, and sustainable development.

As the conference concluded, participants departed with renewed vigor and a shared commitment to advancing women’s and girls’ climate action through the rule of law.
