The Dalaguete Chess Club is proud to share that our young chess player, Rybarage Blake Entia, has been officially selected to represent the Philippines in the 24th ASEAN Age Group Chess Championships 2026, which will take place in Singapore from August 7–17, 2026.

Blake's journey is the result of countless hours of training, determination, and love for the game. At such a young age, he has already achieved something truly inspiring—not only for himself but also for our club, the Municipality of Dalaguete, and the entire Filipino chess community.

As he competes against the best young chess players in Southeast Asia, let us all show our support by cheering him on and keeping him in our prayers. No matter the outcome, Blake has already made us proud by earning the honor of wearing the Philippine colors on the international stage.

“The First Move: Sta. Monica Ceremonial Chess Opening”
Cawayan, Cebu — The 2nd Sta. Monica Fiesta Rapid Open Chess Tournament concluded in thrilling fashion on April 19, 2026, bringing together top chess players for a highly competitive 7-round Swiss-system showdown.

Emerging as the Champion was Richard Gumapon with an outstanding 6 points, demonstrating consistency and sharp play throughout the tournament. Ed Cyril Manalili secured 2nd place, while Stephano Vincent Gaviola claimed 3rd place, both delivering remarkable performances against a strong field of competitors.

Several players also impressed with solid finishes, making the event one of the most competitive local tournaments this year.

The tournament was successfully organized by the Dalaguete Chess Club and held at Cawayan, Cebu, under the leadership of Tournament Director Chrone Villahermosa and Chief Arbiter Ar. Joel P. Rodriguez, Arbiters Osayan Emanuel, Dave Entea, Clapano Victor and Rainel Limpasa ensuring a well-managed and fair competition.

📌 IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

Pre-registration will close tomorrow, April 18, 2026 (Saturday) at exactly 12:00 noon to give the organizers enough time to finalize the list of participants and prepare all necessary chess materials.

Payment will be collected onsite. However, ALL players must complete pre-registration in advance.

This event is open to players with a local rating of 1950 and below (as of March).
