Looking back on a meaningful academic engagement last March 26–27, 2026, the Communication Department of National University Dasmariñas actively participated in the FRAMEwork Asia-Pacific Conference for Communication, hosted by Cavite State University in Indang, Cavite.

Anchored on this year’s theme, examining Artificial Intelligence as either a “Troubleshooter or Troublemaker,” the conference became a dynamic space for critical dialogue on the role of AI in communication, media, and knowledge production.

Representing the department, Dr. Robbie Jan Vincent Buelo served as a keynote responder, offering insights on the role of AI in shaping scientific discourse and the evolving landscape of knowledge creation. Complementing this, Ms. Betty Ann Estrada delivered a presentation on AI in journalism, highlighting the use and current capabilities of a built-in chatbot journalism app as part of emerging media practices in delivering credible and engaging news content, titled “Evaluating RAI: A Qualitative Analysis of Rappler’s AI Chatbot in Delivering News Accuracy, Relevance, Transparency, and Engagement.”

The experience was further enriched by the participation of sophomore AB Communication students, who engaged in the sessions as part of their academic immersion—bridging theoretical learning with real-world conversations on technology and communication.

Beyond the sessions, the conference marked a strengthening of institutional ties, further elevating the partnership between NU Dasmariñas and Cavite State University, while reinforcing ongoing collaboration with Far Eastern University Manila in advancing future FRAMEwork conferences and shared academic initiatives.

More than a conference, it was a convergence of ideas, institutions, and future directions—where COMMrades continue to navigate and shape the discourse on communication in the age of AI.
