BOOK LAUNCHING | “Si Ninay at Si Piapi sa Bakhawan ng Ibajay”

A meaningful celebration of literature, culture, education, and environmental heritage unfolded on April 24, 2026, at Katunggan it Ibajay, Ibajay, Aklan, with the launching of “Si Ninay at Si Piapi sa Bakhawan ng Ibajay,” authored by Dr. Sharon C. Masula.

The event was graced by Hon. Jose Miguel M. Miraflores, Municipal Mayor, Hon. Nestor Francisco Inocencio, Vice Mayor, and Hon. Rustico Inguillo, Barangay Captain, together with the ASU faculty, BSED students, Katunggan staff, and Korean visitors.

The book launch served as a celebration of Aklan’s rich natural and cultural heritage, highlighting the importance of nurturing environmental awareness among the younger generation through storytelling and literature.

Held as part of the celebration of the 70th Founding Anniversary of the Province of Aklan, the occasion brought together educators, students, local leaders, community members, and international visitors in honoring the province’s enduring legacy.

GAWAD UTOS NG HARI KONTRA-PANITIK

Bukas na para sa mga submisyon ang unang Gawad Utos ng Hari Kontra-Panitik.

Inspirado ng etikal na diwa ng kuwentong “Utos ng Hari” ni Jun Cruz Reyes, kinikilala ng independiyenteng gawad na ito ang mga katha na tumutunggali sa kawalan ng katarungang panlipunan at itinatampok ang mga karanasang madalas isinasantabi o tahasang binubura. Pinapahalagahan nito ang mga kuwentong nakaugat sa pamayanan, lalo na ang mga mula sa mga lalawigan at kanayunan. Nais nitong isulong ang panulat na tapat, mapanuri, at nakaugat sa karanasan ng mga komunidad.

Mga Layunin:
•Hikayatin ang mga akdang nakasentro sa buhay ng mga maralita at marhinalisadong pamayanan.
•Bigyang puwang ang tinig ng mga manunulat mula sa lalawigan.
•Itaguyod ang panlipunang pakikisangkot ng mga manunulat.
•Pagtibayin ang panitikan bilang gawain ng budhi.

Mga alituntunin ng paglahok:

•Bukas ang gawad sa lahat ng Filipinong manunulat, lalo na sa mga nakabase sa mga lalawigan. Bukas ito sa anumang kasarian, edad, at paniniwala.
•Ang mga akda ay dapat nakasulat sa Filipino. Para sa mga akdang nakasulat sa mga rehiyunal na wika, mangyaring magbigay ng salin ng akda sa Filipino kasama ng orihinal na teksto.
•Sa taong ito, ang panawagan ay para sa mga maiikling kuwento.
•Ang akda ay dapat hindi pa nailalathala o naipapasa para sa publikasyon.

Prayoridad ng Paksa:

•Kahirapan at kawalang-katiyakan ng buhay sa kanayunan
•Paggawa, migrasyon, mga impormal na hanapbuhay
•Karanasan ng mga katutubo at pambansang minorya
•Pagsulong ng karapatan sa lupa, sahod, edukasyon, kalusugan, tirahan, at kabuhayan
•Pagtunggali sa estruktural na kawalang-katarungan at pananamantala

Deadline: Hunyo 30, 2026

Ang magwawagi ay makatatanggap ng sumusunod:

1st Prize: PhP 30,000.00 + tropeo
2nd Prize: P 20,000.00 + sertipiko
3rd Prize: P15,000.00 + sertipiko
